My understanding is that any extra point (plus or minus) get added to, or subtracted from, the next pick. So if the Dogs bid at 16, we match and have extra points that move pick 20 up to (I guess) about 18. So we actually most likely lose virtually nothing. And we gain a pick in the space where there will be quality players. Anything over 30 this year is dodgy. So we've moved from 2 goodish picks to three goodish picks. Actually sounds OK. Not genius, but fine. And if someone slides we might just get that tall we want.

Stringer stormed out of his interview with us because we were pretty upfront about his offield issues and asked him upfront if he was willing to change.

Just wait for the top 30 lists to come out in a few weeks and start choosing TWO, instead one, and add Naish without any stress to where he falls. Mind you, he could easily slip to mid-late 20s too. Plenty of talent in that top 30.

we need a jack replacement the reason im pissed is because 15 gave us a chance to nab best available of anyone who slides be it mid/or key position the dogs will bid on naish at 16 they have a massive hard on for him we will match and there goes 17

so we need to find our tall jack protege with 20 or 25 brander is now out of reach

hayes could slide but he is a dinosaur ruck who doesn't suit the modern game
oscar allen is a taller version of lemon
balta looks good but is a defender and try's to do too much with the pill

My guess is it was all for insurance.
If the Dogs bid 16 on Naish, then we match it with 17 and take 20 and 25 to the draft.
All a bit underwhelming.
Remember thouugh that we got a premiership and pick 15 (turned into picks 20 and 25) for Deledio, who will barely play another game.

My read as well. We really felt we needed to split one of those 1st picks and Brisbane are desperate to get Connor Ballenden so we extracted something out if it - think we were smart!

GWS has lost even more depth
Cats may have got Ablett but lost Fatlop, Lang, Lonergan and Mackie. Ablett is 34 and barely on the park lately.
