What a lot of people are forgetting when they are comparing potential draftees to Lachie Neale is that Lachie Neale was pretty average (like Giro) in his first season. I’m hoping Brayshaw’s career stays at a higher trajectory than Neale’s career did.

On the odd chance Hately slides to 14 I would love to pick him up, reminds me of Patrick Cripps. Has big frame that kid is going to be a contested beast. Exactly what we need in the midfield with Mundy near retirement and Fyfe at 27.
Blakely, Banfield and Cerra aren't small. I think we are far more in need of stoppage breakaway speed and/or footskills than a Cripps type. Obviously if he is as good as Cripps we are in need but you know what I mean.

I don't think he will get past Adelaide @ 13 if he is still there

I would love to see us pick up some local mature aged WAFL talent, who will be able to fill the void that Lachie Neale has left immediately. (Im leaving out Marlion Pickett as our draft picks wont get him)
Shane Nelson (WP) & Jye Bolton (CL) surely must get looked at for a late draft pick..

I am completely against picking up more mature bodies.

We just picked up 4 players over 23, we need to keep young talent coming through.

All draft picks should be used on young mids / small forwards. Pickett and Bolton are far too old

I honestly think if Kelly can make it so can Nelson.

Maybe I'm wrong but even as a late pick or rookie spot wouldn't harm us

Gone back through the potential players at 14 and 31.

iHill's kicking and speed is amazing. Sure he is small but seems to be able to stick tackles and it is not like we are playing him in and under. Still reminds me of a faster, right footed Sonny.
Scrap Jones at 14, his kicking isn't as good as I thought it was. Happy with him at 31.
Stack is a jet. Devo he is off-field question marks. Think he could be A grade at AFL level. Only thing I don't like is he tries to break too many tackles and isn't strong enough. Not as bad as Crowden but think it would get him in trouble at least early in his career.
Valente is tidy. Maybe not 14 tidy but would be happy at 31
Taylor (as Chris mentions) looks good as a forward. Not the best field kick though.
Clark is your standard gun half back. Think he will be a good player.
Stocker, Sturt and Caldwell there is limited footage. Stocker especially sounds good but hard to tell when you can't watch them. Suspect Caldwell will be a jet also but again need to see.

Later in the draft I like Woodcock but generally I don't both getting into players touted outside 40 because it is such a crapshoot.

As rookie picks for sure.

National draft already had 5 mature players taken out it.

For me, our goal is to get in guys who can use the pill.

Got the same feeling about Caldwell.

Most draft people look back scratch their heads why players fell.

Also, got the same feeling about Bytel.

At the risk of making you choke on your mexican beans Lach I think we may very well have a big inside mid in McCarthy....now that we have Lobb and Hogan, would like to know a bit more of his junior days but the guy has all the attributes to do well...is quick with hands, aware of those around, quite good on both sides etc. I think he could compliment Fyfe. Would like to see what he could really do maybe.

Worth a try.

Remember, mundy was a half back for the first part of career.

Hogan has played up the ground as well.

McCarthy and Hogan can pinch hit in the middle when Fyfe is resting.

Probably 30 to 40ish. Talent wise he's right up there as far as WA players are concerned.
Oh ok I was under the impression he was projecting a fair bit higher than that. Not sure I could resist a nibble later on in the draft personally. I think he could be an exceptional small forward at AFL level. Hopefully he can sort it all out :thumbsu:

Reckon they'll finally try out Logue and Hughes in the middle (for Peel) next season... bookmark it. Experiment likely to fail but worth a shot.

Now that we finally have some depth in our forward line, let's not try and turn them into midfielders please.

LOL only very successful ones.....remember FYFE ;)

Yeah but Fyfe was a freak from the moment he began his AFL journey - ultra disciplined! Hughes has that same discipline and Logue might too with his rowing background, and they have the ideal athletic profile but doubt either have the footy smarts to become a beastly inside mid. Cam and Jesse have the smarts but not the discipline to become Fyfe like. Hope they all prove me wrong :)

wtg - do you think we may try to upgrade and gain a second first rounder before we put the cue in the rack ready for the draft?

Needs to do a bit of work on the body and fitness to get a gig there. I do think he has the attributes to go through the middle though.

If we have ruck dominance then we don't need smart stoppage players, we just need them to execute the plan.

It will depend on how many teams play two ruckmen trying to emulate West Coast and Collingwood. I think a few will try it before realising they need contested marking ruckmen, we just stole GWSs one..
