What about the younger more inexperienced players?
Must fire as a group tonight...

They have one it individually but now need to do it as group...

GO Catters

i expect it to be low scoring and close for the first quarter (melbourne will pepper the goals but miss a lot)
2nd and 3rd quarter they will cut us up and be up by 40 points
last quarter we make a mini come back and lose by about 20points

our lack of skills in close and inability to apply pressure in the midfield will be telling
The great oracle has spoken.

If - Barrett says something

Then - Its usually bullshit

His partner in crime, Robinson, isn’t much better.

I don't think my heart could take the stress but I've got a vision of Ablett in the same situation as vs Richmond except this time kicking the match winning goal. Either way, stoked for the little master to have another crack at finals action after too much time away.

Besides that, the kids and mature age pick ups come good are the other ones I'm glad get to relish the experience. Regardless of how far we make it, getting at least one win would be a huge confidence boost for future years.

Selwood as skipper, fully fit unlike last year, hopefully has a point to prove and this time rather than leading an upset loss, is behind a slight upset win. He battled manfully last series but his execution fell short. With more support around him now, I think he could once again be the star of our team during finals.

I'm hoping it's dry because I think slippery conditions will just induce the fumbles the team are prone to under heat.

It will mostly come down to composure (i.e hitting targets and gettable shots at goal) and the pressure game - how we apply it, how we withstand it. Do we go into this game as the hunter or the hunted? Underdog status suits us well in this regard I think.

Can we utilise Hawkins properly at the G? Moving the ball quickly and cleanly, creating space as we somehow do on the far smaller ground at KP, and stopping the double team (Re Gawn). It's a big factor in why we've struggled at this ground for a while, as he's so vital to us. I'd be more worried if Lever was in; I actually think the big man could tear the Dees up again.

I think we'll put in a similar performance to the Swans game last year. Melbourne won't be as lackluster as the opposition then but I don't think their finals game will be fine tuned until at least next year. We just have to capitalise.

Go Catters.
Great post Mr Meow! Good reading.

One of the Fox footy shows was discussing Hawthorn playing Melbourne + McEvoy would go Back with Gawn + spoil his Marks, did the same going Forward, to allow his crumbing Forwards to gather the spilled ball + kick goals.

That is exactly the strategy I posted earlier in the week. Abbott to stick like glue to Gawn, Blitz to compete against him in Defence + Hawkins was terrific on Gawn last game. I think we have to kick the ball to draw Hawkins to Mark out + on the run. No long bombs tonight! Gawn loves an intercept Mark. Stewart loves an intercept Mark too!

As so many have said, Geelong needs a good start + yes, as you said, composure - "hitting targets" + accurate shots for goal. But most of all, a good four quarter effort. If we lose but we made a really good attempt, I can accept that, but not that catchup footy crap, hot potato handballing, snaps for goal but OOF - all of that just sh!ts me to tears. + FFS Danger to give the ball to Menzel or other Forwards if they're closer to the goals, instead of his wildly snapping + missing!

I'm also hoping that the newer guys, who played Finals for the first time last year, bring that experience + stand up tonight. Going to be great to see how Kelly goes tonight too.

Still hugely nervous, but beginning to get excited!

We Are Geelong!

Not sure why but I have a gut feeling the Dees will snipe a couple of our stars at the opening bounce, Ablett, Danger or Selwood are going to cop a huge hit and struggle for the rest of the game, game just has that feeling about it.

Can you just imagine the footy worlds reaction if the holy trinity finally click together tonight and we absolutely destroy the Dees, the meltdown would be the greatest thing to watch ever. One can dream

Let's include Duncan in that dream?

Geelong Cats 2018: Mitch Duncan on why he is happy to fly under the radar ahead of AFL finals series:
Externally, most of the hype this season around Geelong has been focused on the so-called holy trinity of Patrick Dangerfield, Joel Selwood and Gary Ablett as well as boom recruit Tim Kelly.
Internally, though, Duncan is rated as highly as anyone.
After a career-best season in 2017 the 27-year-old was a shock omission from the 40-man All-Australian squad and this year, despite his numbers being slightly down because of a change in his role, he has again gone largely unnoticed by commentators as others get the credit for taking the Cats to a twelfth finals series in 13 years.

The sad thing is Kitty if we win tonight without him he is unlikely to get another run this year barring injuries.

That is sad, I think Narkle is one who would perform well in Finals.

First point of call tonight will be to mute those bloody fox footy commentators because we all know it will be Melbourne this Melbourne that blah blah blah Melbourne have been the better side (even if they are down by 5 goals).
But isn't it a Ch7 Broadcast? So we'll get BT + cronies?

I just always mute + listen to KROCK lol
