And so it came to pass that the Demons, after years in the rebuilding wilderness - (that we had 186 parts to add to that demise) made it back to the promised land of actually playing footy in September and not going on Vegas trips.
And they have collected some solid pieces on the way.
They are well drilled, well talented and hungry.
They also have about 30 games of finals experience across the 22.

The media has also all but given them the win - as have some of the GFC posters on here.

Im not ready to concede just yet.

Then there is us. We have made it again.. just.
Losses that should have been wins have haunted us for a while - much like post bye games.

GAJ is back, PFD is over his niggles. Selwood too.

Parfitt is in the back of a 4 goal haul. Tommy perhaps his best year in .... well... years.

And some youthful revelations. Jack Henry from the depths of the 2016 Rookie draft, Tim Kelly from pick 24. Blitz has gone back and been doing his best Domsy impersonation all year rarely being shaded.

Tommy Stewart has taken the 44 back to the AA dinner and worm the jacket home.

There is much to be excited about. Is it enough? Who knows.

As long as we go out and play 4 full quarters and leave nothing in the tank ill be happy.

Nice one Daz ..This should have been dropped into the OP ..where it deserves to be ...

it sort of establishes a certain religious under tone ... which of course fits so well with them being the Demons and we have the Holy Trinity .. ..

So... I say onto you..

Its time gather all our might.. its time to smite down these demons , to cast out these lucifer acolytes , time to bring the wrath and the pain. Do not stray from the path , do not hover in the shadows and be swallowed by the occasion for when the test comes we must face it and not let those in beelzebub brethren worm their way in to the good graces of the many. We must pursue them as enemies of the truth and as the mighty should ... we must be brave and forthright .. defend the word.. attack them when they have the artefact and gather it..and use it wisely. . Do not allow them to enter their cities of safety , for we must bring the heat of truth upon the contest ... and so sayeth we all..

What about the younger more inexperienced players?

It's well documented that Geelong's achilles heel is the bottom 1/3 of the side. It's really, really not very good in a league sense.

These are the players who need to step up (they're not just youngsters!) and do the fundamentals right - tackle all night, get themselves to contests / stoppages, pressure on every line - basically everything the Richmond 'plodders' do week after week without being told.

Either or....they are both as bad as each other at least with K-Rock i will get an unbiased call!!!
Hahaha! I usually say KROCK is very balanced + unbiased commentary, but thought it was getting old.

Now you've said, I realise, it never gets old!

I did actually start a GD thread but had to leave my laptop for about 45 mins and never posted it - and CE righty started one in the meantime so i just added it to the thread. All good.

Of all finals sides Geelong's bottom six is ranked #1 by CD

Not at all. I reckon you forget the times you say Geelong will win/lose + the times you're wrong.
As Vdubs will attest to there was a 2 year period where I rarely got the result of a Geelong game wrong despite the naysayers around here writing us off before the bounce. And the opposite was also the case. Like I said, short memories.

Now go eat a steaming turd.

FYI, assuming no late changes, here's how tonight's team compares to the team from our last final (prelim loss to Adelaide).

OUT: Mackie, Lonergan, Motlop, Lang, Stanley, Smith, Cockatoo.

IN: Ablett, Kelly, Henry, Murdoch, C Guthrie, Abbott, O'Connor.

Not sure why but I have a gut feeling the Dees will snipe a couple of our stars at the opening bounce, Ablett, Danger or Selwood are going to cop a huge hit and struggle for the rest of the game, game just has that feeling about it.
The Whorethorn response would be an accidental knee into Gawn while backing into a pack ... I don't subscribe to this tactic. :moustache:

Did they name the Geelong bottom 6?

Harry Taylor 8.3 (7 games)

Jack Henry 7.9 (21)

Jake Kolodjashnij 7.3 (22)

Scott Selwood 7.1 (12)

Jed Bews 5.4 (20)

Mark O’Connor 5.3 (4)

Myth busted: The Cats’ bottom six is better than you think, ranking third of all finalists based on the Round 23 team. Interestingly, neither regular selection scapegoat Jordan Murdoch or three-gamer Ryan Abbott are on the list. And there is a decent list of players outside the current team who have played good footy this year. Geelong’s biggest issue seems to be deciding on a settled line-up. How much is that worth? Ask Damien Hardwick.

Did they name the Geelong bottom 6?
Yes they did. I know Harry Taylor was there with our highest ranking. I can't remember who else. I'd say Murdoch, Parfitt, S.Selwood, Abbott and Henry

Just imagine whipping boy Murdoch taking a hanger 55 out with 5 seconds to go with scores all tied up, then roosting an almighty dagger straight through the big sticks for the win, all would be forgiven then :D
Murdoch is not a lot different to Polec from Port. I can see him being that sort of player. In fact, Murdoch could well be our barometer. I heard a caller on SEN offer that suggestion, and it has merit.

I definitely can't match your 85 hours but I know how you feel. Pulling a night shift (couple of hours left) and staying up for the 10:50am kick off here in the UK. Perhaps get a sneaky nap just before it starts. The beers will be flowing a few hours after for someone else's celebration, but I'll be commiserating or celebrating for my own reasons as well.

He is, does Narkle play defence?
O’Connor filling Henry gap down back nicely. Was a noted interceptor as a junior in Ireland, seeing glimpses of it lately. Issue is his kicking. But if they were to drop him for Narkle I’d expect Henry to the backline.
