could also say we were lucky to get a random handball from a non-threatening free kick, otherwise we didn't really look like scoring

The touch on the foot didn't even impede him. If you look at his foot/leg carefully it doesn't even move when contacted. He could have just put his foot down and kept going. He chose to collapse and take a massive swan dive. Nothing other than cheating. That's soccer though.

If you are going to slide tackle kick the ball cleanly or risk giving away a free kick/penalty. Did you learn nothing from 2006

Jackson Irvine's 20 minutes was strange and costly. As the freshest man on the field at the time I couldn't believe in the lead up to their second goal, he barely got out of a jog in midfield as one French player on the ball just walked past him and he let another pass him. Yes he was playing in an advanced position but 1-1 and 10 minutes to go - harass and work hard ffs!

He did nick the ball though, which is why it shouldn't have been overturned. Ref wasn't shown that vision though bizarrely. The system seems strange.

Risdon was clearly first to the ball - got the touch on it! Kicked it into the legs of Griezmann - his wasn't so much a 'heavy' touch, but was a rebound from Risdon's touch. Griezmann then decided to fall/dive, as he realised he was never going to get to the ball before Matt Ryan. Any contact thereafter was incidental and was at the initiation of the person second to the ball, ie. Griezmann.

Besides, any contact was outside the penalty area - refer photographic evidence ...

2-1 is better than most would have expected. So close to taking a point, but 4 points from Denmark/Peru still very possible. We looked organised and generally solid in defence. Threatening up front our biggest issue, will be easier to create chances against lesser opponents.

Great effort. You know we’ve done well when you walk away feeling like we didn’t deserve to lose and that’s how I felt ..

I wasn’t a fan of the way that VAR was done because I felt like the ref didn’t want to spend to long so rushed it and missed the fact Risdon got a touch on it ..

Hope there are some changes .. luongo needs to play a head of Jedinak lost count how many tines jedinak got caught with the ball .. Irvine potentially for Rogic .. Rogic really knows how to go missing sometimes ...

Could have been forgiven for thinking Nabbout wasn’t even playing and that was one of the worst games I’ve seen Behich play for a while got caught with the ball heaps..
