Twomey indicated Caldwell is likely top 6. He also mentioned Ben King at 5 & if stk overlooked Max then Port take him instead.

I reckon Twomeys top 6 phantom is this

1. Carl - Walsh
2. GC - Lukosious
3. GC - Rankine
4. StK - Max King
5. Port - Ben King
6. GC - Caldwell

Smith & Rozee prob next cabs off the rank unless there’s a bolter.
Id still go with this assuming no trades are made, although its hard not to see Port picking Rozee, which in turn would mess with GC and the smattering of 'go home' players in that bracket;

1. Carl - Walsh
2. GC - Lukosious
3. GC - Rankine
4. StK - Max King
5. Port - Ben King
6. Syd - Blakey
7. GC - Rozee
8. WB - B Smith
9. Crows - Hately/Caldwell
10. GWS - Caldwell/Hately

I saw an interesting phantom this morning which saw GC taking Lukosious and Max King, look how this then may play out for GC!

1. Carl - Walsh
2. GC - Lukosious
3. GC - Max King
4. StK - Rankine
5. Port - Rozee
6. GC - Ben King
7. WB - B Smith

Looking at these names, geez I hope for something special come Thursday night.

Max more then likely our guy I still think I reckon it’s max>>>>rozee,Caldwell>smith from what I’m hearing

Actually St Kilda want Smith ahead of everyone leading to a deal preformed between the saints and the suns for pick 4.

Saints get:
Pick 6 and 29

Suns get:
Pick 4

But I think a better deal would be
Saints get:
Pick 6
Pick 24
Richmond 3rd round

Suns get:
Pick 4
Pick 36
St Kilda 3rd round

Leaves us with pick 6, 24, 46, 67, 79

I’m thinking it will go like this in draft night

Carlton 1: Walsh
Gold Coast 2: Luko
Gold Coast 3: Rankine
Gold Coast 4: Rozee, (to keep the SA boys together)
Port 5: Max King, (desperate)
Saints 6: Bailey Smith

Other pick may be:
Pick 24: Curtis Taylor apparently still there at 24.
Pick 46: Jack Bytel
Pick 67: Zak Foot
Pick 79: Oscar Chapman

Rookie:
Pick 3: Jacob Townsend
Pick 21: Tom Jok
Pick 40: Sam McLarty

Many on the crows board have come around to taking 4 picks to the draft rather than trading up at big cost. We also really like the look of Caldwell as he would slot straight into our midfield with the crouches, sloane and gibbs. Do you guys think that your club rates him high enough for pick 4? or does it maybe open the door for a pick swap with the crows that would see you guys grab a couple of 1st rounders ie maybe 8 & 13 or 8 & 16 so that you can take Caldwell or maybe smith at 8 and then someone like Sam Sturt or Riley Collier Dawkins at 13/16?

Dogs all over Caldwell if he slips through to 7.

Interesting as there has been an awful lot of chat that they are taking Smith at 7 if he slips that far. If they went Caldwell at 7, it is in all likelihood that our pick 8 we get smith who is arguably the best mid in the draft. TBH, if we can't trade for Luko or Rankine, then I am going to be very very happy to take either Caldwell, B King or B Smith at our pick 8 - whichever one is still on the board

We certainly rate him enough to seriously consider him and I wouldn’t be surprised if we rate him second behind Walsh for midfielders in this draft it will be a needs base pick if we go him but it’s more unlikely than likely as much as I want him. Gold Coast is apparently extremely keen and the dogs aswell. Not sure he makes it to you guys

Smiths the biggest flight risk in the draft. I would be surprised if Adelaide look him considering your history there.

Maybe..but Rankine is just as big a flight risk and GC are very likely going to take the risk on him and if an interstate club takes either King twin, same thing. It looks like there are plenty of flight risks so clubs are likely going to take the risk at some point and smith at 8 would be very hard to overlook. Having said that if smith sits there at 8, it could be auction time on draft night if the crows had someone else they wanted. FWIW, I think you guys could do worse than take smith - he really does look a better prospect than Walsh and would be no flight risk at all for you

No he doesn't
it is an opinion only but there are a couple of guys on our board that live in victoria and get to many many U18 games and they see smith as having better speed, a better kick and better under pressure. Chat with Bicks from our board and I think Knightmare is also one who has him higher rated than walsh

Smith/Rozee/Caldwell are varying degrees of overs at Pick 4 IMO. King is a good pick 4 but hes not reallly what we need.

Interesting times ahead. Wish one of JL and King were mids of comparable ability

We drop from 3 to 4 through no fault of our own in a draft where 2 of the Top 4 are KPF players, which we need way less than mids. Such is our luck.

Knightmare is a con artist, lucky to have a gig at ESPN

http://m.saints.com.au/news/2018-11-19/gallagher-on-pick-4-prospects

Article on our website of Gal discussing pick 4 options. My take from this is that we are expecting Walsh, Lukosius and rankine to be the top 3 and essentially ruled all 3 out. Geez i hope we get rankine
He said that was the public consensus but if one of them got through we would heavily consider one of them. Had a lot more to say on king rozee and Caldwell Went into quite a bit of detail. Not as much detail/knowledge on smith was my take

Jye Caldwell looks as impressive as anyone in the highlights packages. I would be very tempted to do a trade with Gold Coast and take him at pick 6. (I reckon he will be gone before Adelaide's pick 8.) As Borderbarry intimated, could we somehow include a pick swap of our respective 1st rounders for 2019, along with the previously suggested pick 4 for Gold Coast's picks 6 and 24?

Clubs tend to believe they are going to improve (us included), so Gold Coast may back themselves to improve enough to finish ahead of us next year, thus making the inclusion of the 2019 pick swap in the deal a tempting offer for them.

Personally, I think Gold Coast will eventually climb up the ladder, but not for another two or three years, and it could put us in the box seat for the number one pick next year. Worst case scenario would be if they did finish ahead of us in 2019, but even then it would only be by one or two spots and shouldn't effect our draft and trading position too much. On the other hand, if last year was merely an aberration and we get back close to the top eight, then we come out way ahead - effectively a swap of pick 10 for pick 1.

If things played out to our advantage, we could end up with Caldwell at pick 6 (or perhaps Smith or even M.King) and pick 24, as well as pick one next year.

I’ve changed my mind again. Really warming to Caldwell. If we are confident Gold Coast would take rozee at pick 4 if we traded it to them I think we do the deal. Pick 4 for pick 6 and pick 24.

1- blues: walsh
2- suns: lukious
3- suns: lukious
4- suns: rozee
5- port: m.king
6- st.k: Caldwell

Then take whoever slides at pick 24 (O’Halloran/Sturt/hill/stocker/McHenry)

Means we get the guy we want plus a free pick early in the second round.
