HUTCHY ILL-INFORMED AND WRONG: FAGAN

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan didn’t mince his words on Saturday when he was asked about comments Craig Hutchison had made about the Lions’ coaching set-up.

On a recent episode of Footy Classified, Hutchison had suggested the Lions needed to bring in some tactical help to the club.

Fagan fired back on the weekend, saying the comments were “ill-informed and wrong.”

“Was he suggesting that I’m not very smart tactically or that I don’t have enough people around me who are smart tactically?” Fagan said on 3AW.

“With all due respect, Craig would not have one clue about our coaching group up here at Brisbane and their capacity.

“I would categorically say that his suggestion is ill-informed and wrong.”

“Crock of shit media” would be better suited.

Stenglein was on 5aa a few years ago reminiscing. He said that during his final year here he broke up with his SA girlfriend plus had come to the end of his contract. The pull to stay had disappeared and an opportunity came up to head home, plus the Crows were happy because they needed chips to get Thompson home.

He wasn't bad as assistant coach, just not suited to the senior gig

Not true.

Having impressed with TAC Cup side Eastern Ranges, he was taken by the Crows in the 1995 national draft and featured in the back-to-back flags of 1997 and '98 (named among the Crows' best in the latter) before his 20th birthday. He had hoped to return home in 2001 but that was extinguished by an aborted trade with Tiger Ben Holland. A year later, with his contract set to expire, he joined the Tigers, having almost been snared by Collingwood.

All the talk at the time was that he was happy to go, but would have also been happy to stay. He almost went back to the Melbourne at the end of 2001 in a trade for Ben Holland, but Richmond pulled out of the deal at the last second and ended up re-signing him.

There was definitely talk around 2006-2007 that Johnson asked the Crows about a potential return, but nothing ever eventuated from it.

This was also a different Crows outfit back then and a far more ruthless one than has been there for the last 15 years or so, Johnson was a tradable commodity and being okay with a move back to Melbourne gave Adelaide the opportunity they needed to work out a trade for him.

Adelaide tried to move him on to get Holland and then later did it again to get the draft pick from Richmond so that we could get Carey.

Yeah from memory we offered Holland something ridiculous like 400k a year back then which was crazy money.

That article seems to suggest that Richmond promised him under the table payments to match out offer which never eventuated.
