The Pies have two quality players, whose class could be the difference, if we get dragged into a sh!t fight.

Pendlebury and Sidebottom can cut you up like surgeons. Big night for Howe and Sheils. Please Clarko, don't take these two lightly and see how it goes.

Wouldn't surprise me either way. No trust in our lads this early in the season and pies do have a better midfield imo.
Can't wait!!!

And Treloar has both of em covered.

They’ve got a quality midfield.

They’ve also got the most overrated midfield in the AFL.

It’s caused by constant media attention which only Collingwood players get.

No doubt. Is a big ask. Was part of the reason Mitchell had 50 touches that night. He was working overtime.
Howe has improved since then and having him JOM, Shiels and Mitchell together will be interesting to watch.

Cue the one paced midfield posts - I’m more intrigued than anything. I have no idea how our midfield will go and those that do (optimistic or pessimistic) must have some extra special powers that most of us don’t have

Either way it definitely makes footy interesting.

Hawthorn has been very very brave with what it has down in the midfield over the last two seasons. Would be great to see it pay off

I’m am intrigued to see how we go this season. We need to sit back and realise we have lost Mitchell, Lewis, Hodge and Gibson in a two year period. That is two legends and two hall of fame players right there. It would be a massive win if we were to make finals.

I’m still confused at the criticism we got for making those big decisions. Those guys had very little left in the tank yet it felt like we gave up those players in their prime.

I just have my fingers crossed O’Meara, Mitchell, Burton, and Sicily can become some sort of resemblance of the above quartet. The recruiting staff have done an impressive job since 2015 to kick start a rebuild. Plenty of work to do, but we have the beggining of a nucleas to drive us forward.

With Pendlebury just need to do what we normally do with him , let him get as many touches as he wants in defence . Don't want him getting 20 forward of centre for them

I'd expect Tom Mitchell will be fired up for this one and hope a few of his team mates, who didn't really fly the flag when the Pies boys were getting into him, will also go very hard.

With McEvoy, Mitchell, O'Meara, Burgoyne, Shiels, Howe, Smith, Morrison, etc, we have enough to hold our own in the midfield.

That’s why we have to get games in to JOR, Lovell, Cousins and Worpel asap. We need depth and we need to clear the list cloggers quick smart.

Does having Scott Burns in our coaching team offer us an advantage? Surely he knows the strengths and weaknesses of the Pies players?
Didn't help Simmo in the '15 GF.

I'd particularly like to get games into Morrison, Lovell, Cousins, Moore and Worps.

Am finding it hard to have faith in JOR's body.

I think we have a very unsettled list. Not sure we have a settled midfield line, forward line or back line. Thinking that Pies should go in favorites at $1.85 vs $2 (or whatever the reverse is). They are a team of midfielders, who will never win a flag because of it, but will take the odd team to pieces due to their runners. New game plan for the Hawks, new personnel, returning injured players, new year versus a coach setting a team up to stay in the job. Thinking it will be a tough one to win.

Hope we get off to a good start.

I don’t think Morrison will play Round 1. I have a feeling Henderson will be picked ahead of him.
