Zac Clarke is a lot worse than Longer and Hickey. Survey some Dockers supporters , they'll tell ya. We should try and get Cameron from the Swans , then send Longer and Hickey packing.

mate ive watched him all year, he's improved. dockers supporters think all kinds of things, they're the last people you should listen too
the idea behind it is we get lycett is the number 1 ruck, but keep clarke as insurance and keep a spot for a project type player be it pierce or someone else

**** Zac Clarke. What is the point of getting rid of Hickey and replacing him who has shown at AFL level to worse in almost every single area. We want to improve the team.
Pretty sure he manages Billings if you're talking about from a St Kilda pov

because of the pick you get, to improve another area of the list
whats the point in having hickey on the list to play VFL? wouldn't you rather invest that into someone who cna play midfield at AFL level?
That doesn’t make any sense. How does replacing our ruckman with a shitter ruckman free up a space for a midfielder?

by trading hickey for a pick, it allows you to invest that pick into either a ready made mid or taking it to the draft.
if hickey is not going to be our number 1 ruck, at his age, it makes no sense to keep him. his value is only going to decrease from next season onwards
So we’d end up with Zac Clarke and Pierce as our ruckmen? No thank you.
You claim Clarke has improved a lot, but that’s because he’s playing at a lower standard. In 6 years in the AFL he has worse numbers than Hickey so it’s a pass from me.
Would rather ditch Longer and keep Hickey as number 1 or as competition for someone like Pruess if we could snag him.

did you actually read what i posted? also based on what ive seen i wouldnt be as confident as you on who would be the better ruckman out of hickey and clark and i'm not being flippant here

Surely there is enough evidence to suggest giving bottom team more picks isn’t a solution to prop them up.
Melbourne became good when then AFL put Roos and a decent CEO in place, not due to draft picks. Surely the AFL look into this at Carlton, the Suns (especially) and us rather than just handing out picks.
Help teams create an environment where players flourish instead of just assuming talented players will solve the problem.

It’s about time they stipulated that priority picks must be traded. If a team is in such a rut that they’ve qualified for a priority pick, then adding an extra draftee (even if they’re as high as the number 1 pick) doesn’t change the team’s fortunes in the short term all that much. This means that the team will remain at the bottom of the ladder, and qualify for further priority picks, which only pads out their list of elite young talent and gives them an unfair advantage in the future (once the players have developed) whilst yielding almost no benefit in the short term (which is what the priority pick is designed to fix).
Carlton are playing this really well - sustain a lowly ladder position and have a cry about not being competitive, all the while creating a nice collection of top end draft picks. The AFL will only realise how bad their mistake is, in giving priority picks to Carlton, once their side is stacked with talent yielded from the pointy end of the draft.

No to Lamb. Was hoping he would come on this year after coming back to Melbourne and being around the club. But sadly he hasn't.
Been about 4 or 5 AFL quality players under our noses with our affiliate over the years. Tom Langdon, Mitch Brown, Tom Curren & James Magner all got their shot eventually. Adam Cockie was the only one who didn't.
IMO … We have one at the moment, but its not Lamb. Its Kade Answerth
Would really benefit from a good development system and could impact instantly after a big preseason and in the right environment. Sooo probably not for us!

Sorry missed the part where we have lycett. Highly doubt that would happen but would still prefer Lycett & Hickey over Lycett & Clarke. The chances of hitting a good mid as you say with the pick we’d get from Hickey would be very slim. Would hate for lycett to go down and Clarke be our best option.
I’m not doubting you’ve seen Clarke, just saying itd look like he’s improving because he’s playing against inferior opposition. Can players turn it around? Sure, but it’s a very very VERY small percentage of players that do, and hardly any that spent as long in the AFL system as Clarke.
I wanna bring in young players with potential or older players who have proven themselves and will improve our side, Clarke is neither for mine.
