So, as of right now, is this about right?

SENIORS

FB: Geary - Brown - Roberton*
HB: Webster - Carlisle - McKenzie
RK: Longer - Ross - Steele
CR: Hannebery - Steven - Shiel
HF: Billings - McCartin - Gresham
FF: Long - Bruce - Membrey
IC: Acres Sinclair Savage Kent

RESERVES

FB: Rice - Austin - Clavarino
HB: Coffield - Joyce (r) - White
RK: Pierce - Dunstan - Armitage
CR: Clark - Phillips - Amon
HF: Paton - Battle - Lonie
FF: Weller - Marshall - Newnes
IC: Langlands

I don't necessarily have Longer as ruck ahead of Pierce or Marshall.
I don't necessarily have Paddy in the squad ahead of Battle or Marshall ( You don't pick them based on where they were drafted ).
There is some valid criticism of Lonie, but he kicked 12 goals in 6 games, and that puts him in the team from my point of view. Before Long. ( Kent can have the Weller role ).

In 2018. Logan Austin was 5th for kicks per game, and had decent efficiency. May be able to take Roberton's role if Dylan doesn't get back right away. Logan almost marks the ball as many times per game as Jake Carlisle. He had more rebounds from the 50 per game than Savage. Only Brown had more 1%'s per game. Logan had the highest TOG percentage in the Saints. (92.6 ).

Ed Phillips had more disposals per game than Newnes, Weller, Roberton, Clark , Coffield, or McKenzie. Of that lot only Weller had more tackles.
Marshall wins more contested possessions than any of the other newer players. He takes as many contested marks as Paddy ( only Carlisle takes more ). Paddy took 1.6 Marks per game inside the 50. Marshall 1.2. Kicks more goals per game than Ben Long.
McKenzie only has 6 kicks a game, but his efficiency is the highest in the team.
Lewis Pierce had more clearances per game than David Armitage, more centre clearances per game than Dunstan.
Only ruckmen and Irishmen gave away more free's per game than Ben Long.

Battle and Paton had the lowest TOG of the Saints in 2018. ( 66% and 65% ). Battle kicked more goals per game than Paddy ( 76% TOG ).
New Kid Hunter had 71% compare to old campaigner Dunstan's 72%.
Daniel McKenzie 85%. Phillips 84%.

Lethers is an absolute savage:

Interviewer:

“Why does Jack Stevens name keep being brought up even when you categorically have said his name is not on the table?”

Lethers:

“Yeah I have a reason, probably because you keep bringing his name up.”
Good, we need a campaigner front office

Agree - it's a win / win....

Well maybe more of a win / ahh well at least Carlton were forced to pay more.

If the Blues feel pick 1 is overs then perhaps we can help them out pick 4 + something for pick 1.
If you believe what you hear - the Blues rate Walsh more than Shiel. So pick 1 categorically off limits.

Which is why its smart from SL. Just makes it that much harder for the Blues and Hawks.

Hawks would have to give their first and a good player.. again, very hard to.

If Shiel is 33/33/33 and doesn't matter that much - and we have the best trade, GWS would weigh in a bit.

This is not actually true, the fact that he has been our # 1 target for years actually highlights how average he's been considering the amount of forward 50 entries directed at him.

He's a decent, hard working athlete, but looking more like a 40 goal / season forward rather than a 60+ goal star that we thought he was becoming 4 years ago.

He did actually average 2 goals a game in the period Spaceship7 stated.
Well 1.93 but close enough

Another thing that SL said last week about their interview with Sheil was they discussed with Shiel what life would be like for him and his partner post career which could have a bearing on his decision.
That was the one thing that i took out of it that could sway him.

There will be a few who won't be happy with swapping 4 for Shiel.

But looking at the big picture, next year we start with 3 x A grade mids in Dylan, Steven and Hanners.

Massive transformation right there.

Gallagher’s finance and banking background combined with his salesmanship is apparently working wonders. Rumour is he walked into SL’s office and said it’s time to get fiscal.

Apparently Richo isn't a big fan of Coffield

would also like to know why. when Coff and Hunter started Coff looked better with the ball and more composed imo he's gone backwardslate in the year with hunter looking better atm. Ritcho if true looks to have undevaloped him. just another reason why freckles needs to go. start of the year both looked great and I was thinking wow we've picked up two great looking kids...

back to trade, mixed messages on pick 4. I just hope if shiel picks us, we can work some magic and keep it.

bundle him up or get a pick back and everybody should be happy.

Also pretty smart saying originally that pick 4 was not on the table but upping the ante at the eleventh hour and really putting the squeeze on the others.

Yep, totally agree. I would like something back, but even if we didn't, I'd still be very happy.

Although I cannot get a read on the Shiel situation. Looks like Essendon right back in it..

If SL & Co pull this off - then double hand clap.

You'd assume this is all it is.…Turning the screws on the blues.

I don't think he is coming to us.

Hopefully Carlton don't get both Shiel and Setterfield for pick #1 somehow though.

Prefer Austin to Brown
White to Savage
Lonie to Kent
Marshall to Bruce
And Coffield and Clark have to play whenever possible for mine.
Tried to be realistic.

My preferred team would be somewhat different.
Hunter Clark comfortably best 22 by round 1. The kid is a star.
Absolutely agree, but there was an element of seeing where the prospective tradees would fit in the post.

Good lord! :D

Carlton apparently making a state league selection and trading that player to Geelong.. Quite smart, makes you wonder why we didn't put our hand out for the same deal to get some more 2/3rd round selections in...
