List Mgmt. 2018 St Kilda Trade Thread Part 4

Question for those clever boys/girls.... is there an opportunity to delist/change our list after the national draft. If live trading brought us 8 and 16 for 4 but we have only the spots available for our original draft picks, can we cut a player after or just not use a later pick?

How does pick 39 = pick 60?

Because some boffin thinks you can add up points for multiple late picks and equate it to an earlier pick.
Lets work out how many 4th rounders it will take to draft the next Scott Pendlebury.

So his value has increased after 14 games, since you picked him in the second round at number 25?

Not being a dick, just haven't watched a lot of him.
To us it has because we have put two years into him and he is contracted. We'd be silly to trade him for what we paid for him two years ago and then start again with another draftee.

He's exactly the type of player we need at the moment. Unless we could get an upgrade on what we paid for him, why would we bother?

True true, fair point.

Dean Kent will be an upgrade at this stage of their respective careers if he can stay healthy. Filthy that he is leaving but don't blame him if he is getting a 3 year contract out of you guys. Too bad for us we will get F all for him.

In all seriousness, Melbourne don't have a draft pick until pick 36 so that wouldn't satisfy us. So it needs to be a player, and I don't know how we would be satisfied by a Melbourne player unless it was one of their gun inside mids.

Unless this gets involved in a deal for Jesse Hogan. But Freo don't have a pick between 6 and 80 at the moment unless they trade Neale.

If somehow we turned Ben Long into pick 5 or 6, is there then a chance we could package those picks and grab pick 1?

I don't want Ben Long to leave, but I'm happy to hear Melbourne's offer to see if they are willing to pay overs.

Essendon are bringing Shiel in. Don't see how they get Long over the line at all.

If we tread Gresham for picks 51 52 53 54 55 56 and 57 then it equates to pick 3, so it’s technically Gresham for pick 3

He was starting to show a bit before missing about 10 weeks with (I think) a foot injury in the middle of the year. Due to that injury his current trade value is nowhere near his potential (IMO) so we'd be mad to look to trade him.

It's nice that clubs are interested in our young players. Fortunately they are contracted and want to stay. Surprised at the angst regarding the hickey trade. Only downside was the pick swap but it's the 4th round so hopefully doesn't effect our points next year.

Shame Weller hasn't had a bite.

I don't want to lose Long but at best he is around 20 and at worst 30. 5 or 6. Do it in a heart beat. Do 15 in a heartbeat. He stays as far as im concerened.

We got pick 39 for Hickey, just like we paid pick 12 for him.

Neither are accurate.

A surefire way of STAYING in the bottom 4 is doing gutless trades for no benefit, just so it "looks" like you're doing something.

Hickey for jordan roughead and pick 39 is just shuffling chairs on the titanic.
Why bother?

How many clubs can you think of that have got themselves out of the bottom 4 swapping plodders for plodders?

Didn't realise that trade week is over.

The joy of getting pick 39 must have sent me into a 6 day coma.

Can the points expert work out the value of Hickey when.......

Pick 13,36 and 55 is traded for Hickey, 25 and 46.

Pity just about all the picks were squandered. ( Jesse Lonergon anyone ).
Melbourne got Dean Kent at pick 48.
46 Ended up going to Sydney for Membrey, but we got him for free anyway.

Kent an upgrade on long? Maybe this time last year but not now and probably never again
