Duryea and Scully netting same value is scary.
What was Fasolo? Third round? Fasolo who put 2 out on the full from almost the same spot at downtown Werribee this year.

I reckon that they're in such deep shit with their salary cap that they had to cut him free for nothing. The greatest bargain trade in recent history, IMO.

It's also obvious that Scully wanted to get to the Hawks and not us (or anyone else).

If the Hawks somehow get him up and running with results it'll be the greatest trade boon in recent history.

I don't know what 'ol Jason McCartneys up to, but it seems somewhat clear they're backing in their selected boys (Josh Kelly being one of them I reckon) to never let go and then top up down the track to prevent themselves from not completely bottoming out their top talent.

I'm leaning towards GWS know more than we do about his situation, it must be pretty bad, like never gonna get back to his best or on the park at all bad.
Im sure the Hawthorn doctors arnt clueless. They are backing in their medical staff like they did when they took a risk on O'meara's knee which looks to be 'manageable'.

Future 4th isnt much of a risk though, so worth it every sense of the word imho.

Practically zero risk.

The majority of our trades are also low risk/high reward. Other than Polec we've gotten JP, Hall & Tyson at pretty good value for such recently highly rated players who've found form dips in the past year or so.

If we come outta 2019 into 2020 with these blokes on their best form yet imagine the wrap North will get as a club that can turn around almost any players careers.

O'Meara missed the semi final because of his knee. You have to wonder how manageable it is if he missed his club's most important game of the year because of it. He also missed 16 games the previous year.

They had a fake news segment on SEN this arvo, Bloke rang up and said, “Players wages during trade Period, Polecs wage started at $700K and Kane Cornes has put his wage up every week, it went from $700k to $750k and now he has him on $800k, by the end of the period he’ll have him on $1M”
That in itself should be banned.......these ex-players have conflict of interest.
Heart strings to former club and influencing players, family members who have strong influence on said players considering moving.
I keep harping on it but the quicker we get ex- players into this media circle jerk, the better .

JOM was touted as the best player of his generation when he won the rising star.. its because he was so bloody good with ripping talent to burn he was able to play as a B grade at best after his injuries. Anyone else would be fringe in and out of teams. Now scullys ankle looked ****in bad. Im no micro surgeon but that looked like tendons and all sorts of shit got smashed in the injury! Good luck hawthorn is all i’ll say.. scully was A grade before injury, i’ll be surprised if he is B grade at best post injury

SCULLY. Hawthorn docs say he's about 5/6 weeks from jogging. I've heard he may need another surgery (he probably will need a tidy up afterwards sometime next year best-case scenario):

His ankle injury was initially reported simply as a fracture of the lower fibula.

There are 2 bones between the knee and ankle: the tibia (the big one at the front) and the fibula. They come together to form a joint at the top of the ankle, called the syndesmosis. The lower section of the fibula, around where it joins the ankle, is called the lateral malleolus - this is where Scully's fracture occurred.

There are several ligaments that hold together the bones in this upper joint of the ankle, plus a big ligament that holds the tibia and fibula together. If one or more of these are torn (as can easily happen in a fracture in this region) the joint can become unstable. Cartilage damage is another possible complication.

He was operated on by orthopaedic surgeon, Andrew Oppy.

As far as I know, no-one's disclosed what has gone wrong - why Scully's ankle didn't recover as quickly as initially projected, and why GWS currently seem to think it's a problem.

This GWS injury report is vague about the extent of the injury:

Westfund Rehab Report: Round 3
3 April 2018

GIANTS midfielder Tom Scully will be sidelined for 10-12 weeks after successful surgery on a broken ankle on Sunday in Melbourne.

Scully, in his first game of the season, twisted awkwardly in a tackle in the first quarter and was taken from the ground on a stretcher.

Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce confirmed Scully will be looking to return to the field after the mid-season bye.

“He fractured his fibula, which is the narrow thin bone on the outside of your leg,” said Joyce.

“It was his right leg, so it was right down the bottom which is why we call it a broken ankle and he had other little things that we needed to clean up in there as well.

“He got operated on at the Epworth on Sunday and everything was done really, really well and we’re hopeful of seeing him back on the park in that 10-12 week range.”

Scully lucky not to suffer Dane Swan-like injury
Dane Swan in early 2016.

White, a former club doctor at St Kilda...

White likened the manner in which Scully hurt himself to the way Swan suffered his career-ending injury.

Fortunately for Scully, he only suffered a broken ankle and syndesmosis ligament damage, and avoided the dreaded Lisfranc foot fracture.

As a result, the former Demon might only miss 12 weeks...

As serious as Scully’s injury was, White said it could have been much worse.

"The mechanism was certainly very similar to Dane Swan," White said.

"His foot went under his ankle, bent inwards and with a body low as the opponent fell on top of the leg, so it was just about identical."

Swan suffered syndesmosis ankle damage in the opening round of 2016 against Sydney and broke three bones in his foot, including the Lisfranc fracture.

White said Scully was set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines because of how important the part of the foot he injured is.

"With that sort of injury, first of all you bolster the whole biomechanics of the lower leg, ankle and foot," he said.

"The healing has to be absolutely 100 per cent before contemplating going forward with any significant weight-bearing activity because of the risk of complications of what we call ‘non-union’ or if the fracture is not set in the normal anatomical manner.

"It’s a sensitive part of the body and, in some respects, [crucial] to make sure that the alignment is correct so full function can be returned and participating in high-end athletic activity (can be achieved).”

Duryea and Sam Lloyd, gangbusters trade season for the Dogs.

Remember who their list manager is... That explains it all!

I reckon we try to sell them back Hrovat!

Bulldogs will be alright...prob around 11 or in that pack. They just don't have a great fwd line and a bit short down back.

Did a lot better the latter half of the season.

Agree with a lot of this. My 2019 prediction, McKay will ask for a trade at seasons end while Thompson retires.

Pittard, Polec and Hall are all types we don’t have at the moment so not stressed about them. Tyson though, that is the one that could hurt development

nothing wrong with having depth! Tyson will want to blow the socks off during pre season

The risk will be the 3 year contract with options.

If they get him fit, it'll be a good get. If they can't it'll be an albatross.
