Does anyone think that Harley Bennell at a steal - like delisted free agency on the rookie list or something would be a potential Smokey / low risk high reward for us ?

Also are we looking at any just in case ruckmen ?
I wouldn't even touch Bennell to push him out the door

Feels like we’ve injury proofed ourselves to an extent with these ins.
The EVW and Jacobs injuries hurt us this season but nothing like the decimation we copped in the last 10 rounds of 2017/16.
You’d think we’re about 3 wins better with these trade ins.
Hopefully improvement of incumbent players can get us 2-3 more wins with the tougher draw not costing us too many wins.
Should be aiming to win a final in 2019

Injury proofed might be a bit of a stretch but we definitely have a little bit of padding now to break the fall, A lot of people were pretty outraged here a few weeks ago with the de-listings but we had more dead wood on the list than a beavers lodge.

Yeah, actually not a low risk at all.

North completes midfield overhaul
Barring an unforeseen late bargain, North finalised its last player trade on Tuesday morning when it claimed Aaron Hall from Gold Coast for pick No.68.

It was a small price to pay for a player of Hall's talent but also a reflection of the 27-year-old midfielder's inability to produce consistently at the Suns.

North coach Brad Scott will back himself to get the best out of Hall, who together with former Port Adelaide pair Jared Polec and Jasper Pittard should bring the line-breaking run the Roos have lacked in recent seasons.

The Kangaroos missed out on their biggest target this year when star free agent Andrew Gaff re-signed with West Coast, but with the additions of Polec, Hall, Pittard and ex-Demon clearance specialist Dom Tyson they have achieved two of their biggest priorities – bolstering their midfield's run and depth, and adding a defensive playmaker in Pittard.

In snaring Hall for pick No.68, North only gave up 59 draft points, which will help as it prepares to match rival bids for Tasmanian Academy member Tarryn Thomas and father-son prospects Bailey Scott and, possibly, Joel Crocker.

North holds picks 31, 42, 48 and 58 in this year's NAB Draft and could yet be involved in a late pick swap that improves its points position.

As it stands, the Roos have a combined 1473 points. This is the equivalent of pick No.6 and will be more than enough to claim Thomas, who is unlikely to attract a bid until the early teens.

North might need to go into points deficit to claim Scott, who could attract a bid in the 30s, but that would only result in their second-round pick sliding down the order next year.

Crocker is likely to get to the Roos for a late pick.

Has head office told some of the clubs to hold off on the big deals until tomorrow night.

It happens every year to an extent but it feels like a lot has been left to the final day/night.

I like a conspiracy theory and the concept of a televised deadline would be a fizzer if it was only small trades/pick swaps going on..

Having crunched the numbers, I'm not sure we will actually need to bring in an additional points:
- Our first two picks (31 and 42) are equal to a bid on TT at 12.5 (ie. a bid at 12 would push our next pick 48 to pick 49, a bid at 13 would bump pick 42 to 71)
- Under the same logic, our next two picks (48 and 58) are equal to a bid on B.Scott at 28.5

So, if TT is bid at 12 and Scott at 28, we would have a small points deficit, pushing our 2019 2nd rounder back 1 place (eg. from 36 to 37).

Honestly I'd give us an A. Got all our trade targets (bar Gaff) and have addressed our main issues which are pace and midfield depth.

If we got Gaff it would've been an A+

I'd give us an A, missing Gaff has got nothing to do with us. Hell even my source from within the WCE was convinced he was crossing to Arden St, on the Wed post GF.

For me who failed advanced maths in VCE, how many points do we have to draft the third player?

You also have to take into account other father son and academy prospects bids. Blakey at 8, Quaynor at 14, West at 19, Kelly at 24, McFadyen at 25 before Bailey at 28( based on Twomey's draft)

If the Hawks somehow get him up and running with results it'll be the greatest trade boon in recent history.

I don't know what 'ol Jason McCartneys up to, but it seems somewhat clear they're backing in their selected boys (Josh Kelly being one of them I reckon) to never let go and then top up down the track to prevent themselves from not completely bottoming out their top talent.

To be honest, I reckon they're screwed,,,,,,,we saw how flimsy they were this season with Josh out injured. He dragged them back into finals contention, along with a coming of age season from whitfield. Losing a fair bit of depth, resorting to getting mumford out of retirement to fill a ruck role, seems pretty desperate to me.

None. We would be left with picks at the back of the draft. Sounds like our plan is to either:
- draft a state league ruckman
- draft a small forward prospect
- pick up Crocker or another NGA product
- upgrade one of our rookies (Murphy?)

So lets take CalT phantom draft as a guide, we need pick 38 from next year to match both thomas and scott.

Although my bet is that the ****ingcampaignerbag bombers bid on him at 9.

I guess if we were forced to draft Crocker through the main draft my question would be answered.

Plus an extra game at the Blundstone Fortress is as good as another win.

Yep. Meaning our existing picks are worth more and likely enough. And as long as Bailey isn't bid on until the 2nd round the only risk is a downgraded 2019 2nd rounder.
