What's this I'm hearing that we may rookie Hibberd and Mountford?

Heard it was on the cards a couple weeks back, all dependent on what we landed during the trade period.

With Gaff re-signing it was probably their best case scenario at snagging a rookie spot.

Would be very happy for our Rookies this year to be Crocker, Hibberd and Mountford (+Red Og)

All I can say on that is that both Tarrant and Jmac polled well in the B&F so perhaps for the the club and team standpoint, they were valuable to the team throughout the season going by what the club has shown from the B&F that is.

But thats the only case I can argue. It baffled me why other particular players were getting games still, but perhaps we don't see everything that are valuable contributions to the team as a whole.

I'm not denying that. I like both players but you pick on merit as well as other variables. I'm saying when the season is over, you've got nothing left to play for, your FB is injured, and your young defender is tearing it up in the VFL = a token game if I've ever seen one.

I love Scott and the list management team but that was woeful. It gives McKay something to notch on his belt heading into Pre-season. That's not even going into the other stuff (goldy and Turner...)

Narni spoke in the podcast about how he and luke had words when they were out once, it seemed like there was enough friction, but narns played it off as all good fun.

Higgins was that pre season scuffle at training where they had a crack at each other.

They aren’t massive issues, but they are all senior figures/players at the club - indicates to me that there is an air of LMac being too big for his boots

Sydney have 26, 33, 38, 39, 40 which you would assume that would be used for Blakey (if Blakey is nominated at pick 6 = 1401, they will need to use 26, 33 and 38. This will move our picks to 30, 39, 45, 55 = 1629 points). This would be on the assumption that Blakey is bidded on before TT.
If TT is bidded on at pick 6* and before Blakey, then we need to use our top 4 picks (31, 42, 48, 58) and get back pick 66 or something like that. Then we go into deficit next year for BS as we would only have ~70 points.
*Unlikely scenario but could happen.

We just need Blakey to bid on first!

I think my calculations are correct?

I suspect we can match 12 and 32 without the need of trading future picks, fingers crossed Cal is a little out, with were the NGA and other F/S players fall clubs won't be using as many multiple picks to gain them as we would like, I hope my calculations are wrong.

Hrovat, LDU, Murphy, Morgan, Zurhaar all dropped as they are fringe players with Ahern rested in r22. Scott's only drops senior players after theyve strung together 23 games of shite, give or take a few.

Being cautious with team selection has obviously proven to get the best results out of the playing list... Oh, that's right, it hasn't.

But what about their confidence!!!!!

Every veteran says players play with injuries, they don't like standing out, 'banged out' or not.
And yes, given footy is played between the ears as well, confidence is an issue.
As for getting out of the best out of the list, what if the list is not that good as the de-listings show?

Yes, players do play through injury but the coach needs to make a call when their play is detrimental to the team. 2nd half season drop offs are becoming a pattern, wonder if we'd fair better with rested players with less niggles.

Confidence is an issue but so is winning games of football. Carrying McDonald types all season seem to affect the latter.

If the list isnt good enough that's on the footy department and Scott's. How many years does he need to build a list that can finish top 4? Wonder if the magical, well rounded number of 10 will be it? I certainly wont be holding my breath.

20 years of no GF appearances and 10 inconsistent years with the campaigner in charge now.
