Just on Joyce.
I don’t deny that he has done some amazing work in his time at the club.
It’s just unfortunate for him that he got burnt last year with Kelly and Dusty and learnt to change his approach this year.
Sadly even after luring Gubby in via his connection with Brad and putting them on the frontline, that didn’t work.

Is it a respect thing? A whose who thing?
Is he not well known or well liked?
Ben Buckley’s leadership will be judged on results and the club from Joyce to Brad to Heath all the way through to Polec and Mason Wood - look like fools.
Not by us or internally, but from the greater football community.

The large contracts and godfather offers don’t work. They just don’t.
This tactic shows that the promise of playing at Arden St means nothing and not even the millions in the world on top is enough.

I love the club for persisting and for effort and to keep trying to make us better, but not even being competitive on field in 2018 lured a big fish over.

Where this hurts us going forward is after Dusty and Gaff changed their minds last minute, any future free agents we go after can do this and not care about how it affects North.

That’s the perceived weakness that makes me displeased with the tactic.
The offer should be out there and if not accepted withing a reasonable time
then withdrawn.

My sentiments exactly Tazza.

However there’s one thing I’m still not happy with is how we still allow player managers to leak out our contract offers. We need to somehow control this better, because as long as these big contract offers play out in the media the less likely we are to get pen to paper on a big fish.

You never hear in detail about the Hawks offers until after the fact.

This is a devious piece of reporting:

They are implying that he flew over and told us face to face that he wasn't coming.

That is not the case.

a) He flew over last Wednesday
b) Today is Sunday

Which makes Brad's B & F comments quite interesting. Is he simply referring to Polec & Hall and the potential for Newman and Finlayson, or are there any other things on the burner in mid player range?

I’m equally torn between wanting the club to brush it off their shoulders and the club declaring a fatwah on Gaff’s entire family.

I think half the Gaff family are currently pro Fatwah for the time being. They're as baffled as we are.

I said at the start of year that finishing mid-table and throwing Hail Mary offers is not a proper list build strategy.

The things I want to know before making a judgement now:

-Has Gaff officially signed with WC?
-More important: have we made even a single contractual decision about our list on the assumption Gaff was joining North?

What's everyone worried about , I am so confident he is coming I have his name already emblazoned on the back of my duffel coat:)
Just quoting myself here, what am I to do with my duffel coat now ? I could re arrange the letters mmmm ?

Good attempt, but wrong dots connected.

Do you think Brad might have actually believed Gaff was coming on Friday night ( after wednesday, before sunday)?

My understanding of that is he flew over today. That is why I think Bowen was the first to report it today, Gaff told Joyce face to face today and then Joyce leaked it to Bowen.

Yes and you are not going to like the answer.

This doesnt make sense to me. Surely they'd support there son? If they wanted him back surely hed be with us?

I think they were looking forward to having him close by. They'll get over it like we will.

He had a 1 in 2 chance of being right.

He's bullshitting until he proves otherwise. He's been asked for the name of the guy we're targeting now. Unless he gives it up, assume he's full of shit.

Exactly. He popped in to gloat about being correct, threw a crumb at us and then disappears. He trades on his fact not fiction crap, but then doesn't have the courage to back it up.

Unless he actually was privy to any meeting that might have occurred between our club and the Gaffster, when he allegedly flew over on Wednesday, and therefore is sworn to secrecy, then he should not have said anything at any time in this thread.

I pointed out that I post irregularly, I never say anything negative about north. At all. This doesn’t mean I don’t ever read the forum, I do daily.

For the people that come out of the woodwork to post negative thoughts, that’s them, not me.

On gaff, North are doing a great job. All the players that have entirely said no, have stayed put, I don’t see any other clubs having gun players deliberating north or their current teams.

Posting here doesn’t have to be negative

I don’t get coming here for 11 years through everything that’s happened and saying very little

Each to their own

Well it's not, cause he was right. Scrotes have been comparing notes and we have different contacts but the mail was the same.

He backflipped, like Dusty. Those stories will be told in detail. Choose to believe what you want, we are trying to keep people in the loop because it's not something the club can just comment on.

Thankfully Gaff had slightly more integrity to come tell us in person, out of respect for Cam.

We are not happy and I don't think Gaff parents are either, but I think they'll get over it first.

Up front, I'd like to say that I certainly appreciate the posting by yourself and others on this matter. The backflip was always a possibility, but seemed unlikely until it happened.

What I don't get is, if he told us on Thursday when he flew over, why wasn't it public until today? (side note: along with Snake and a small number of others, I was extremely nervous when I found out he made that flying visit)

It also begs the question as to why did he go through the charade of the carefully worded, non-committal speech at their B&F.

Everything points to him back-flipping after the B&F, with the small but contradictory detail that he visited Melbourne the day before the B&F.

I think this is being overblown. If you think a player is good enough to be in the club's plans, you'd find a way to keep him. You certainly wouldn't officially delist before trade period has even started.
