Gaff committed to North last week and told us he was coming, North took him at his word and delisted Dec Mountford, then Gaff back flipped today (presumably after the Lycett coin upped the ante, which did occur).

The man is not only a sniper, he is a lying dishonorable rat and a lowlife skunk and I am glad his glaring character faults were unearthed before he arrived at our club.

I can only say in leaving that I truly hope bad karma follows him for the rest of his days. Life will catch up with him somewhere.

I'm saying pay him $1m in 2019 as a sign up inducement, say give him a 3 year deal at $350k per year which is front loaded $1m into 2019 so the cash is still available to throw at a Kelly after 2019 but we pay overs to secure what is a first round calibre player for chump change.

We might already have put a strong deal on the table to him, I don't know. But he is most likely going to play in the state he lives, which makes us effectively miss out on another first round calibre pick in a super draft, after missing on Blakey as well.

If there was a more aggressive club like say Collingwood that had the cap space and could more or less buy another 1st round pick, do you think they wouldn't? We need to get as much talent on the list as humanly possible.

I thought there were standard two year contracts for all new draftees?

But we didn't have to delist Dec until Gaff signed on the dotted line.
If the above is true the list manager is a ****, you don't throw out stock until the new stuff arrives.
We had until the 31st of October to wait, all contracts expire on that date, Dec's would have expired then.
Sure we might not have wanted to look like holes and delist him the day Gaff signed on, but we look like bigger holes delisting a guy who would have been offered a contract now gaff isn't coming.
We are a joke if this is true..
Further to that why didn't we get his signature there and then or do we just now trust people at their word, it's not a 6pack we are agreeing on.
