Lets think logical for a second. GWS are willing to part with Scully for cheap. Just like Sydney parted Hanners for cheap.

I've heard Scully's ankle injury was not only horrific but that his body (like Hanners) has taken an absolute pounding over the years (unsurprising given the amount of km's he's ran since his teenage years). He will not be a player that plays that long after 30.

Polec's 2018 is better than anything Scully has done. Remember this is a player that was woeful at Melbourne for a long time. Let's not overrate him because telstra tracker spoke about how much he ran during a finals series.
Your love for Joyces is sickening. Who do you care more for? Joyces or the NMFC? :stern look

If I had to bet on it right now I’d be backing Hogan to be at Freo next year.
100% this is brilliantly played by Belly . 2 birds with 1 stone , not only does it send a message to the Dees that they are not going to be railroaded into coughing up a 1st rounder on top of pick 5 but it sends a warning to Brisbane about what they will accept for Neale .

People worrying about what draft picks/points we have - remember there is live trading of picks on draft night.

We will be okay.

As long as Scott doesn't get a first round bid we can just go into deficit and the excess for Scott will be paid from our 2nd+ round picks in 2019.

If both Thomas and Scott get a first round bid and it is way over the points we have, we could trade out our 2019 2nd and/or 3rd round picks for points this year, however, we will likely get screwed with offers if we look for points during live bidding.

What "quality" was a pick i the 60's going to land us really?

The pick in the 60s is irrelevant and not the point.

If we had just stuck with picks for Preuss and Polec (coming the other way), we probably would've had more ammunition for another move ie. TS, not mention not going into debt next year.

It's irrelevant now I guess anyway, so *shrug*

Hawks are close to a premiership are they, geez they went out in straight sets in very convincing fashion, both the teams that beat them will also be better next year.

Top 4 is a lot closer than bottom 4.

I think NN has mentioned this a few times but i think we all need to keep it in mind. McMahon has obviously come in and spent a couple of years now evaluating our list and its pretty clear to see he doesnt rate the depth AT ALL. Every single player has been given a chance of some sort in the AFL and have had an opportunity to play their preferred position in our very own VFL team set up entirely for their development. After the two years of assessment they have made the decision to delist or trade almost all of our depth. This is a very clear and obvious sign that they arent any good. Yes we can say Clarke should have got slightly better than 62 and we shouldnt have sent that to Melb for Tyson but i think we are missing the big picture.

For the first time in forever we are actually going through the dead wood in our team and getting rid of it. Has this ever happened before? We usually just keep them on forever and do nothing about it. For once we are replacing it with better players. They arent perfect players and we unfortunately missed out on Gaff but i for one am very excited to see us making some wholesale changes.

To replace actual VFL players and Clarke with Polec, Pittard, Hall, Tyson and 2 draft bargains is one of the best off seasons we have ever had in my memory. It may not work out perfectly and we might be middle of the road again but its so good to see us be a lot more ruthless with guys who we deem arent going to make it
Spot on. Have been my thoughts exactly.

MicMac is only just up and going.

Also, Joyces is the media piece also as MicMac has never done the media thang. Sure he has some part of it but MicMac is the one building the list. Last year was more sitting back.

The guy can build a list. He knows what he is doing.

Where does that leave us regarding our 1st pick next year?

We have traded out our 4th next year, so if we trade out our 2nd next year as well, does that mean we need to find a 4th and a 2nd to replace them next season to be able to trade our 1st?

What a mouthful!
