IMO we should be seeing if we can lure Patton over for a salary dump. Will be cheap due to the 3 ACL's but it's a low risk, high reward. Give him the entire year off like we did to Ahern and see what can happen. Brown needs help and we are putting a lot of eggs into the Larkey basket.

Probably me. I've written it about 5 times since the injury. People forget and when it gets brought up they think "yeah I've heard that too!"

The system works.
Patton???? The bloke cant kick.

38.16 (70.4% accuracy) + 45.23 (66.2%) in his only full seasons.

For comparisons sake

Ben Brown
61.24 (71.8%) + 63.30 (70%) + 41.18 (70%)

So he's pretty good. All we need to do is play him close to goal. He's a former number 1 draft pick.
So was jacky watts, sometimes we need to let go of the numbers.
As much as I like the idea of Patton, he’d be competing with Boyd as the highest paid player, sitting in the stands.

Lets think logical for a second. GWS are willing to part with Scully for cheap. Just like Sydney parted Hanners for cheap.

I've heard Scully's ankle injury was not only horrific but that his body (like Hanners) has taken an absolute pounding over the years (unsurprising given the amount of km's he's ran since his teenage years). He will not be a player that plays that long after 30.

Polec's 2018 is better than anything Scully has done. Remember this is a player that was woeful at Melbourne for a long time. Let's not overrate him because telstra tracker spoke about how much he ran during a finals series.

Lucky they've got O'Meara who's as durable as they come

You'd be wanting GWS to pay half of his wage and then that's half a mill for a bloke that will be 27 before he gets back on the field (in the instance of a season break to fix himself). Maybe if he was two years younger but in the current climate the risk outweighs the reward.

The difference being 1 is sitting in the stands because he's had 3 knee reco's. Jack Watts is 2 years older but he's nearly played 100 more games. Boyd has been relatively injury free also.

This has probably already been discussed somewhere in the last 20 pages, but I can't be arsed reading back through them.

We currently own picks 31, 42, 58, 68 & 86. Will that be enough for us to select both Thomas and Scott? It doesn't seem like enough, especially when we will most likely have to part with one of these for Hall.

Definitely half. Could probably get him for pick 68. OR trade 68 to Carlton for pick 69 and use that due to the luck it has brought us. Carlton will be happy to do so knowing it has something to do with GWS.

We are going into deficit. (better to own up to my hissy fits)

I don't know how many more players than 3 we would need to draft.

I think Snake did the numbers on it, and we have enough points and then some. Especially after the Preuss trade.

We will be much improved next year compared to this year.

In, Tyson, Pittard, Polec, Hall, Jacobs, McKay and fingers crossed Garner and I firmly believe Ahern has much improvement left in him.

There's competition for spots that we never had before. Also we cleaned out the potato cupboard.

Good stuff North
I'd rather wait until trade period is finished before criticising tbh anyway. I remember there's been questions before it ended past few years. Will work out in the end and we'll see why.

Not happy with Preuss going. But F him. And I do like Tyson...and as you said competition for spots will make players perform more consistent.

Depth is what we need and we're building it. We aren't going to be happy with everything but the end result, bar Gaff (but that is on him), looks to be pretty good.
