IMO Clarke’s best knock was in Adelaide, batted under anaesthetic with a back brace on after burying his best mate. Spent the night in hospital and fought on the next day to make a ton, it was a tear jerker.

One in South Africa was much better.

Yeah that's tough. Think the wicket was pretty flat didn't Warner and someone else score a ton? Bloody difficult to judge the circumstances though. The South Africa hundred was the most difficult pure cricket situation I'd reckon

The most amazing part of Smith's dominance since becoming the captain (then subsequently losing the captaincy) is his batting average was absolutely poor and now it's including that time as well and it's well above 60.
Every chance he was on the verge of being sent back to domestic cricket before his maiden ton at the Oval in 2013 with the series dead.

Coming into that test his average was 29.52. Since that test, and including it, it's 71.20.

The above has nothing on the fact that he was brought in to bowl leg-spin first time round.

Last hour has been nothing short of awesome. This is what test cricket is all about.

Still the best form when the pitch is reasonable (ie a bit for both sides)

From a bowling all rounder who seemed like a master of none and had trouble finding a role to arguably the best batsmen in the world. Smith was somewhat of a project who worked out. Came from nowhere.
Ridiculous. He had no hint of being the player he is now. In a way, could’ve been stifled by Clarke. Very similar if not better version of him now. But the two couldn’t really play together
