And so were Henry Schade (2011), Nathan Wright (2012), Billy Hartung (2013), Jack Steele (2014), Ben Keays (2015), Cedric Cox (2016).

Jake Carlisle (2010) and Jamie Cripps (2009) were the only 24's in the last 10 years who amounted to anything.

So ....30% chance.
Jack Steele is a gun wtf

I reckon the one player that is being shopped around that is a need for us is Howard. I am not sure why Port don’t want him as a KPD though. But I’d be drafting him as a KPD.

If he is after money then surely we will have more cap space than any other team in the league with the number of senior players leaving us.

We’ve got two picks in the 20s. Surely one of those gets you Howard. I like what Reid is saying about going to the draft. But really what he should mean is restructuring the age profile of our list. Ideally we don’t go too young either.

Agreed, Dougal Howard is the ideal player when it comes to the Crows needs of those available. I still can’t wrap my head around Port being fine at letting him go, I suspect that stance of theirs would change dramatically if it was the Crows looking at him and not Victorian clubs.

Rate Howard really high, think he’s top 5 defenders in the league material but Reid looks like he has the blinkers on and doesn’t look like he wants to bring in any players except for maybe Frampton, there’s a difference between focusing on the draft and closed-mindedness and not doing due diligence to improve your team and he’s drifting into the latter. I’d be happy with them paying up to pick 15 if they could snare it from the GC for Greenwood & a second rounder, that’s how big a need/good player I think he is.

For pick 47 we must be paying his entire salary. Pick 47 is much higher than I would have expected.
If its more than 100k then we should have left him here. He is still a starting 22 player at least for next year, he will be at Carlton. Even paying $100k for pick 47 in a poor draft seems excessive.

I can deal with 100K to be honest.

Pick 47 smacks of a desperate move to get a favourite son home.

Borlaise can't jump ship to Port.

Father didn't play enough games to meet F/S. Very similar deal to Gibbs where it was under a seasons worth of games too.

We only have him because convienently he was born overseas.

The massive irony is that Borlase apparently would have qualified as a f/s had Rucci not gone to the AFL about Gibbs.

I dont care if we are paying $100k, even $150k to be honest. If we have him here we'll be playing him or he'll be our first call up and thus block our chances to get serious games into others who we need to see if they have it. Pick 47? I'll take that, I was expecting a pick after 80 purely just about getting it done. Pick 47 could be used as a sweetener to move another pick up the draft order, it's not all that bad.

It makes no sense for Carlton to bring him in at this point other than from a PR standpoint. I'd be surprised if he plays 22 games next year especially with Papley and Martin brought in.

47 for Betts?

I don't mind the $$$ contribution, since there's no way we should be tight for cash next year

That's a win for us.

smh, why are you all so happy to pay Betts to play for Carlton?

I still don’t get it, sure it’s the situation the club finds its self in that he wants to move back to Victoria but why pay for him to effectively aid a competitor, pick 50 doesn’t change that.

I don't get the suggestions Jenkins can't find a home. Everyone is just playing games at the moment.

The club will pay his salary and take a 5th round draft if they need to but no way he stays. The problem we have played our hand, it will happen but towards the end of the trade period.

Actually it has to be the pick we gave Carlton last year. Its pick 48 now.

Reputable poster on the Carlton board is saying Jon Ralph has fu(ked it up and it’s actually for a future 4th rounder, not pick 47.
