But that would have left Rozee for us to get. Swings and roundaboutsThe fallout of that would have been Luko or Rankine would have been in Port colours as a result. Im guessing Rankine more so IMO. Glory be.

I wouldn't do that. Give them pick 4 and they also put Green into their list. They get Jacobs. So we down grade from 4 to 6 and get pick 40 for Jacobs. No thanks I will keep pick 4 and take their pick 59 for Jacobs. If they want Pick 4 then they have to give us 6 plus Hatley plus 59 for Jacobs.Maybe 4 and Jacobs for 6 and 40, which gets them ahead of our expected bid for Green.
I think that given the review and with the change in the coaching staff that exposing the youth to games will become part of our strategy. Having a player like Keath around wouldn't mean the youngsters dont get exposureKeath in particular, I'd be very keen to move on. I'd like to see one of Butts/Himmelberg start being groomed to be a long term KPD, and really the easiest position to start that process is as an intercepting defender, as it is a very easy way for someone to get their feet wet. By that alone, paying Keath whatever money, at whatever contract would just inevitably end up being a bad call from us. Even if we were talking about pick 45-50 for Keath, I'd take it if all other trade options were exhausted (except resigning him).
Greenwood I'd be more inclined to keep, purely because tall midfielder/forward is valuable, we don't have an obvious replacement, and will probably need 2 seasons to develop one. I won't complain if he was traded, but I equally would support us offering an improved contract to keep him if we decide to go down that route.
I agree. I was only open to trading both (throughout the year) cos I thought we could actually get some decent return and given we needed a refresh.I think part of the decision to let Keath & Greenwood go was that we were comfortable with what they would return in trade
If the trade bounty is shizen, I wonder if that impacts our thinking on whether to offer the extra year
I reckon it might.
Melbourne media always run down the value of players from interstate clubs in a narrative designed to favour the VFL clubs.FMD, Cornes and Plough talking on Trade Radio, took a call from an Adelaide caller asking about the status of the Jacobs, Keath and Greenwood trades
Cornes answered by saying 'As far as Jacobs goes i'd say that's going to be a late pick, i would have thought the same for Greenwood...'
Plough then interjected and warned the caller to 'not really expect a whole lot from those three this trade period'
I personally had a massive go at Plough (credit to him though he does involve in twitter convo) last year for being WAY off the mark with his trade analysis, particularly involving Crows players, Kane is just predictable.
This year no different.
So that rates constable as around pick 9.. if we did this I would give up. I’ve got a good idea let’s keep pick 4 and take the best availableAnother idea;
Would you trade pick 4, 23 and 28 to Geelong, for Pick 14, 17 and Charlie Constable?
Geelong seem very keen to get pick 4 and Constable would get an opportunity to shine in our midfield.

Would you give me a $100 bill and 2 x $10 and I'll give you 2 x $20 and a small gift in return?Another idea;

Would have to be 4 for 14, 17 and Constable at the very least and even thenAnother idea;

Yeh I think I have massively overrated Constable. TBH I was trying to find a trade where Geelong getting pick 4 worked to our benefit and I couldn’t find enough picks or any players I really wanted from them. Reached a bit for ConstableWould have to be 4 for 14, 17 and Constable at the very least and even then
At least you are thinking outside the box so kudosAnother idea;

If Keath ends up in the PSD then surely he won’t make it past GC.Crows haggle over Keath value
Adelaide has pointed to the Western Bulldogs' trade involving defender Marcus Adams last year as a fair equivalent in a deal to send Alex Keath to the Kennel.
The Age reports the Crows think a swap similar to Adams going to Brisbane for pick No.32 and a future third-round selection last year as fair value in the Keath talks.
Adams was contracted and a year younger than 28-year-old intercept backman Keath, however, and the Dogs believe a selection close to their picks 45 or 51 is correct value.
I think a deal that could work in the daniher deal could be
Crows give picks 4 & 23 to essendon
Essendon give daniher to sydney
Sydney give picks 5 & 2020 1st to crows + swap 2020 2nd for essendon 2020 3rd
This would allow them to keep pick 9 for papley this year to either use or split for maybe a later 1st this year then another late 1st next year
I am thinking sydney will be a bottom half team next year so crows drop a place this year but gain a good pick next year
Essendon get a higher pick this year + an early 2nd then upgrade to another 2020 2nd...maybe enough???
I am hearing you..i just want to be armed to get lukosius if he indicates he wants to come back. 2 x top 10 picks for him and maybe a later 1st next year would be immense aa if edwards and borlase kick on we could maybe get all 3Nah. Enough kicking the can down the road.
Top 30 picks this year are what we need.
