What do people think about Cotchins response to the question of Dusty potentially winning his second Norm Smith?

"To be honest, don't think anyone gives a stuff about the Norm Smith"

Not sure that's the right way to word the response, especially as club captain - maybe something like

"it's nice acknowledgement but not why we play in grand finals"

I rate that answer tbh. It might not hold true for every team, but I don't think a team like Richmond care at all about that kind of stuff.

2 key rucks
2 key forwards
2 key backs
ALL these guys take mark after mark and do the basics really well.
And of course the bEST player in the comp doesn't hurt.
He reminds me so much of Leigh Matthews.
Should be another NS to Dusty.

But added to this has to be speed. I think Richmonds speed of ball movement is the key to their success. We need guys who are fast to move the ball.

He’s a duffer-needed notes to make a one minute speech and still stuffed it up. Lol Trent.

2013 all over again. Lose a close prelim and the team we wouldve played completely s**ts the bed.
Wasn't that close. Second half we were just not good enough. Game over early last Q.
We needed to be 6 goals plus up at half time given their post bye lethargy.

2017 Pressure.
2019 Pressure.
Adelaide could not handle it, we couldn't last week.
No team since rd 12 this year has.
How can a team learn to handle that is my question.
As you said, SPEED also.
They seem to be the perfect team at present, VFL flag, depth, strength all over the park, pressure, speed, marking, absorbing pressure.
Would love to know how the Pies did what they did in the Prelim last year

Just think, Rance will be back next year to make them even better.

WTF Bruce - "What a game. They've broken all the records today"

Exactly what records did Richmond break?

I know GWS broke a few records in regards to lowest score, but not sure about Richmond

Bruce also claimed Cyril got the VFL-AFL flag double too. Shame Box Hill lost the grand final he played in to Footscray.

I think Richmond can win by close to 100 pts

Problem for GWS - if Rich do get well ahead - they wont chip the ball around and protect the lead - they will continue - attacking/playing on and keep kicking goals - a bit like Geel in 07 didnt shut up shop - just kept kicking goals

Thats the scary thing for GWS - if Rich get on top the margin could blow right out

I win closest to the jack

And i was one of the few who realized how well Geelong played last week and still came up short

Take the fairy tale element out of it - did Pickett really deserve votes in the Norm Smith?

I know GWS got smashed, but I thought Haynes stood up under the Richmond barrage - 15 marks to go with 24 disposals. Might have been nice to see someone give him 1 vote for his efforts

2019 Norm Smith Medal Voting
15 – Dustin Martin, Richmond – 33333
6 – Bachar Houli, Richmond – 222
4 – Marlion Pickett, Richmond – 211
3 – Jack Riewoldt, Richmond – 111
2 – Dion Prestia, Richmond – 2

Prestia was probably my player of the finals series. Just stepped up every time.

Haven't watched too many Richmond games this year, but today would have to be one of Riewoldt's better games for the season - I know he's had injury issues this year but wasn't sure if he was also struggling a little with a genuine tall forward teammate, because he also seemed to enjoy being the focal point of Richmond's attack

After the bath he received last week and questions in the media, he stood up today - apart from that pathetic effort in the second quarter where he did go down way too easily from a Davis bump to the side
