Thought the same thing when I read this. Why wouldn't the Suns ask the very same question - Max, how about coming up to the GC and play with your brother? Same question from both clubs. STK would have a bit of a stronger pull given they both supported them as kids but we shouldn't lie down and let the Vic media manipulate and distort all options that are available.

Until Ben puts pen to paper people like damo and carro will continue to create headline speculation scenarios unfortunately

Sorry to intrude Suns fans.

News on Silk is encouraging. I hope he chooses you. I'd love a player like that mentoring at Tulla. Hopefully he ends up at GC and brings your club forward.

I'm keen to know about Jack Martin;
What's his stamina like and is he capable of being a running receiver and distributor full ground? I'm thinking of a Whitfield type. We haven't had that type of player since Stanton retired.
Also, how would you rate his kicking?
Not sure what you see as equitable as a trade... fancy Laverde there anywhere?

Pick 6-10 for a player that will make you top 4

I think it's really important for you guys to secure some mature guys like Jenkins, Betts, Greenwood, Josh Bruce, and the like...
And I purposely don't mean bring in 1 superstar, but a group of experienced players (don't need another Ablett scenario IMO)

I think you are in a good position to develop the young talent on the list, but you need these older guys for multiple reasons

- obviously their output on the field
- On field they take the oppo best match up leaving your kids to match up on 2nd/3rd best oppo
- off field development of your talent

I think it will look a little like GWS in years one and two, the benefit for you is that your kids are obviously well advanced compared to 17/18 years old when the Giants did this.

GWS brought it Power, Brogan, Cornes and the older bloke from Melb whos name escapes me...

I'm hoping you get a few up there this year to help with that development, as Dew showed early that he has the right things in place to generate that growth.

The bloke was James McDonald

I don’t know the ins and outs of those earlier recruitments you mentioned but have heard A.Lynch say in the past few weeks that rischa wanted to get out of BRISBANE as he was dangled as part of a fev trade. Seems you made your own bed on that on.

That's true- both Rista and Bradshaw were tangled for the Fevola trade apparently without their knowledge. It all blew up, Bradshaw went to Sydney and played about 6 games as the Lions knew, and so did he, that his back was stuffed. Rista stayed the next year and won the club best and fairest then did his exit stage left as our club champion. They were dark days of the Lions, desperate efforts to get some wins but destroyed any signs of loyalty, it was really the start of our revolving doors.

It does annoy me that people go on about the departed suns players

Gws has also lost
Adam treloar
Dylan Shiel
Devon Smith
Taylor Adams
Josh Bruce
Will Hoskin elliott
Rory lobb
Jack Steele

Caleb marchbank
Paul ahern
Jon orourke
Tom bugg
Jack hombsch

And post inception their they have recruited
De boer
Tendai mzungu

Sheridan?

Why ???

Ah Chee was a top 10 pick thats been injured and Brisbane have come for him
McFadyen is a pick #43 academy kid
Smith pick #21

neither player has played a game and is extremely speculative , Totally fair imo
They are both 1 year players like King at GC, 1st year players still in contract rarely move clubs. Can't see either of those 2 moving. The real query here is why Ah Chee hadn't signed a new contract. It has been mentioned on this board that he is on good terms with GC and Dewie. There is something more to this story. It is only natural for clubs to approach uncontracted players at a seasons end. I don't think Brisbane has done too much wrong here.

They can be traded if they agree

regarding what the reason might be , Maybe its the 4 year deal on good $$$ from brisbane as well as playing for a team thats in the finals now and he see's himself having a better career there or thats what he has been sold. Not that its right or wrong but it just might be where his mind is now

It is weak is what it is
I can say that hand on heart too because I’ve never been a sell out and if anything it’s been a fault but I wouldn’t change it

Let's see, he's a 24yo who can play pretty much any position on the field & has twice finished in the top 3 in our B&F. I'd reckon that's the sort of player we should be getting in return. Have you got any of them to offer?
Mark Baguley might be lured out of retirement and you wouldn't have to give anything for him. 😁

I'm not sure we've got any players you'd like or need; Laverde's just getting his body right, finally. He can played a mid/forward role. Zaharakis could bring your young guys some maturity. It feels like EFC has lut Laverde's name up, perhaps to work towards securing the compensation your club would want, or to help it.

What's Martin's tank like though? Will he still be working both ways and collecting possessions in the 4th?

You will finish top 4 if you get him
Pick 6-10 will get you a great fun 2020

Most on the EFC board put his body of work at a late first or second. It will be interesting to see what he chooses... apparently we haven't the cap space if he chooses Essendon. Maybe why Laverde's suddenly on the table and we've had a flurry of re-signings.

Is the feeling there that the club would prefer picks over players?

Our list manager is on record saying we need outside run both in the midfield and off half back.
I’d think players rather than picks too.

Depends on what mood Jack is in... he has shown glimpses of getting in and under.

I look at the bombers list and there isn’t anyone gettable in the right age bracket for us...
That's the quandary I see too. I think most Bomber fans would be stoked to have Martin, mostly because he would improve our i50s. Like any fan who can see the upside of a young list, though, most Bomber fans won't want to give any players up.

Hopefully Martin nominates EFC. At least we might have some impetus to break what's likely to be a deadlock - I get the frustration with the loss of players though. With any luck the deal is fair with whatever club he goes to.
