2019 Rookies

Atm haven’t gone super cheap with rookies, easier to downgrade rookies once it all becomes clear then having to find funds to upgrade them. These guys are also my best bet who could line up round 1 at this stage.

D: Collins, Clark (McKay, Burgess)
M: Smith, Setterfield, Bewley (Constable, Hind, Gibbons*)
R: (Fort)
F: McAdams, Cavarra (Corbett, Parker)
Liam Stocker should play round 1.

Setterfield @ F5 seems a no brainer over a Corbett type.

Hind a maybe - Parker will probably our only debutant round 1.

Joe Atley another one.

What about the Carlton rookies?? Walsh, Setterfield, Stocker and Gibbons (if included). Would they be gunning for just one spot or different? Walsh not really an option, would be a slow burner. But you have to consider the other three. Thoughts Carlton Crew, anyone, I've no idea.

Re bolded - you're taking the piss, right?

You do realise 200k rookies have to avg 70+ to be a worthwhile pick?

Walsh will get bashed around by the bigger midfield bodies - he’s 74kgs dripping wet

Barrass is 74kgs heavier when wet

Don't expect Bailey Smith to debut for a few rounds. He is still not full training after a ankle injury late in the season.

I think Gibbons is a trap. He's a forward who plays mid.

A recent article from fox sports says Will Hayes is a standout at training and may debut early.

Also an interview with Pykey.

Adelaide coach Don Pyke has earmarked mature-aged recruit Shane McAdam as a player to watch out for throughout the 2019 season.

McAdam, 23, joined the Crows along with pick No. 13 and a future fifth-round selection in a three-way trade that saw Mitch McGovern land at Carlton and Sydney secure selections No. 26, 28 and 40
The medium-sized forward scored 31 goals in 17 games for SANFL outfit Sturt last year and caught the eye with his forward line pressure, speed and agility.
“We’re really excited about having Shane (McAdam) on board,” Pyke told SEN Breakfast.
“He’s a mature-aged guy that’s played some good footy at SANFL level. He’s making that transition, as all first-year guys do, between playing at a local level then getting into the AFL.
He’s certainly one to look out for – he’s highly talented, he moves really well and has a great feel for the game.”
McAdam recently spent time in hospital with a bout of gastro but is expected to recover in time for the start of the JLT Community Series.

From Melbourne I think Hore is a good chance to get early games with word Lever won’t play until round 9-10. Showed good signs in match sim. Sparrow apparently impressing on the track.
Any word how Baker is travelling? Thought he would get games last year but doing his hammy killed his season.

Is Hore a 3rd tall ? .....what's his role that could get him games over other options ?
