I am surprised by peoples eagerness to land a big fish or be linked to someone or to do something.

We have been the most active team so far I think? adding 3 players (assuming Ah Chee come in), delisting a bunch of players AND maintain a strong hand in the draft.

We arn't going to land a big fish every trade period, we would be lucky to land one every 5, other than that I am entirely happy with this trade period.

Top up on decent free agents, back in our current crop to continue to develop and keep injecting talent through the draft. Perfect.

Melbourne have just traded in pick 8 from the Kangaroos meaning they now have selections 3 & 8, then nothing until selection 97. I wonder if they would be interested in our 16 and 21 for pick 8?
Given they went out of their way to get 8, effectively giving up a first and second round pick for it, I can't see why they'd then give it away.

Looks like the Suns are holding firm and want pick 21 for Callum Ah Chee, I really think that he is not worth that on demonstrated form and his injury history... although David Noble has a record of just getting deals done even though some think he pays overs so IMO we will relent and hand 21 over, hopefully it turns out a bargain for us in hindsight.

Dodongo thinks that is why we are after the Swans second rounder for Taylor so we can give that to them.

Dodongo still sees a separate pick swap though where we get one in the 20s with a 20s pick going to them and a 20s pick staying with us.

We are looking to improve our draft position, and probably looking to turn Taylor into Ah Chee. If Cutler goes, maybe try roll that into pick upgrades, after getting CEY in he takes his spot (different types and positions i know).
Just a matter of who is willing to give something for 16 and 21.

If we had to pay pick 20 for Ah Chee then we will do it. He's a pick 8 who has looked very good but has battled injuries. I think similar to the Cameron trade we'll look back and say we've scored a trade steal.

A draft pick is an unknown commodity, Noble has said in the past we will get deals done for players we want. We dont value draft picks as high as other clubs. And again, different players are worth different amouts to different clubs. We are screaming out for some pace and flair, so i think we can pay up a bit for it. Problem is when you over pay for things you dont need.

He's not worth 21 on what he's done but obviously if we believe we can get his body right and have faith in his ability then we'll probably pay up.

And in the meantime try to get a pick lower that could satisfy them.

Perhaps we do:

Lions give up:
Taylor, 34, 55

Swans give up:
25, 44

Values Lewy at about pick 44 in terms of draft points. We then can offer 25 for Ah Chee. So the overall trade for us is Taylor, 34 and 55 for Ah Chee and 44.

If we can squeeze more a bit more value out of Sydney - even better.
