i assume the plan was when Stef retires Archie/Big O combo.. Seeing Archie extended to 2021
Archie been in the system for a long time now and I also wonder. Has lots of glimpses.

So if we do not trade in a ruck
Option 2: Big O #1 ruck and Ballenden/Fullarton take Oscars role pinch hit and forward.

If we get injuries next year and finals window. We need another ruck ready if Archie we still think is not.
Hence I see the talk re Ceglar. Although not sure he will get opportunity if no one is injured.

Wonder if with GWS desperate for a ruck they might offer Archie a decent offer to be their number one?

If we traded Archie would be happy to take Ceglar as a FA and draft/trade in a young ruck prospect to develop for the future. Seems surplus to our needs and too old otherwise.

There's a fair few more proven options than Archie floating around e.g. Ryder, Sam Jacobs. Would assume they go for one of those.

I guess, just those guys both 32 next year and if they were looking at someone that could be number one for a while he might be an option they would consider and Archie might consider an offer if he got to play regular AFL footy.

Oddly, Archie's best performance this season by far was against the Giants, the game where he kicked four goals.

I had a gander at stats from our games against AFL reserves sides this year. I appreciate that hitouts aren't the be all and end all of ruckmen, but they are an indicator at least of tap work. We've lost hitouts pretty heavily in all but two games against AFL reserves this year. Archie didn't play in all of those matches, but he did play most of them.

The two games where we didn't lose heavily in hitouts were a match against Gold Coast where Archie didn't play, and the aforementioned game against the Giants where Archie dominated. Maybe that game impressed them, who knows? They do have their own ruck prospect that they're developing, but he was only drafted a year ago so he's still very young.

With Simpson retiring, Mumford cooked and Patton off the Hawks and not really a number one choice anyway they've simply got to pick up one in the trade period this year. I guess the age bracket of who they target will depend on how much they rate Briggs and Flynn and how far off they think they are.

Who does everyone prefer between Jack Martin and Jamie Elliott to add to our forward line? Martin requires a trade whereas Elliott is a UFA.

Martin for me. Massive upside and a lot of versatility. Would like him as option to rotate between the wing and HF.

I'd go with Jack Martin because he offers more flexibility, Jamie Elliott is a marking small forward and not much else, I wouldn't say no to him though, at his best Elliott is a very dangerous option up forward.

I wouldn't be offering up either of our Pies/Suns picks for Martin though, ideally one of our players Tom Cutler/Ben Keays and some 3rd round steak knives.

Doubt that will satisfy Gold Coast. Martin is one of their last remaining stars after all. I'd be willing to trade GCs pick back to them, maybe getting a later pick back as well.

It’s unanimous, Martin!
For all reasons as above!

Jack Martin would be perfect for us and he a lot better player than he has shown recently at the Suns. Imagine him roaming free between centre and half forward with our quick ball movement. Lives just down the road so he doesn't have to pack much.

Be stunned if we haven't made serious inquiries.
