I didn't think he was any good?
5 goals and playing one out as Pies most dangerous forward. We have to get him. If Cameron gets injured, Elliot would offer something different to our forward line. At the moment Christensen is the weak link in our forwardline. Elliot can take Christensen position up forward.I didn't think he was any good?
I may be making this up in my head, but did we have a crack at Conor McKenna a couple of years back? Would be a great get and add a real burst of speed off half back.

I was pretty surprised by the lack of interest in Elliot on here. Greenwood, Ceglar - sure. They’re probably more B graders (maybe C for Ceglar). But Elliot has always been an a grader when fit.
I don't think it's anyone thinking Elliot is no good, it's more where he fits within a super forward structure and whether he'll be fit.
"Ceglar and Elliot are just horrible.
Both would barely get a game in our NEAFL team let alone our ones. Pass on both with a 1,630 km pole."
"Jamie Elliott is a marking small forward and not much else"
Do you think he should be rested next week?Might need to look for a defender to play a similar role to Gardiner in case he goes down again. I said this last season, but I don’t like the looks of that shoulder...
He’s too important to that backline.
Id happily take them both. I think martin offers great flexibility, can go in the middle, wing, hf, and i think he could be very good coming off the hb as well. Elliot would be great cover for injuries to linc or charlie. God forbid both went down at the same time. His form has been ok since his latest return from injury and just kicked 5 goals against port, reports say he was very good. I think our medical could get the best of him. Just 2 yrs tho.Who does everyone prefer between Jack Martin and Jamie Elliott to add to our forward line? Martin requires a trade whereas Elliott is a UFA.
I wouldnt say bundy has been a weak link up fwd since this recall. His defensive pressure has been very good and he has been bobbing up with a goal or two most games. I think he has been very solid and rightly deserves his spot in our current best 22. I really hope this hamstring injury isn't too bad and can get back for a final.5 goals and playing one out as Pies most dangerous forward. We have to get him. Those 5, hipwood, mcstay, big O, bringing it down to them. All can rotate thru the midfield at times. Would be very exciting. I like the idea of elliot in the squad, at best he becomes a part of an extremely exciting fwd 50, at worst he is depth and a mature player in the neafl with good fwd craftmanship to pass on. We dont have a genuine young goal kicking sm fwd coming thru the ranks ( by that i mean a recent draftee) and we really only have taylor as depth in that position now. Until we draft one he would be very handy for a cpl of years.Could you imagine Jamie Elliott, Linc McCarthy, Allen Christensen, Cameron Rayner and Charlie Cameron rotating through the forward 50, the opposition would have no idea who to put most time into.
IMO Linc will be even better in 2020 with another full pre season into him, I'll be expecting a fair bit more midfield time from him, he is very good when in there, ditto for Cam Rayner, Cam is my early tip for most improved in 2020, dare I say "breakout season".

I feel depth isn't a huge issue in this area with Walker and Lester capable back-ups if the need arose, not to mention Payne who looks like he'll be some player too.
Listening to the Brisbane Lions Supporters Podcast on the weekend, they made the point we could use one more top of the line midfielder because we're still losing a lot of centre clearances. Who could we make an offer to that would improve us and be willing to come? We've mentioned Zac Williams before, but and Parish before he re-signed. Matt Crouch maybe?
Anyone in this mould you think we can realistically get? Assuming the likes of Cripps and Bont aren't going to leave. However while either would improve out team I'm not sure they are quite the type we would get in an ideal world - for me we could either use another really big body or an explosive mid who can burst away from stoppages.
Hopefully that is Berry with another preseason (full preseason this time) under the belt. He has a bit more of that explosive power which we lack a bit (as Tom mentioned above, more the accumulator types in Neale and Lyons).Listening to the Brisbane Lions Supporters Podcast on the weekend, they made the point we could use one more top of the line midfielder because we're still losing a lot of centre clearances. These might be the attributes we see in Greenwood if we are after him in reality. Does he have the speed? Definitely has the bigger body. Can also rest forward pretty well to help rotate through the inside. If I had to pick a crouch I'd go Brad over Matt (and Brad is allegedly more likely to leave).

The Crouches are more in the accumulator model and I think we have that sort of player covered.
I agree, purely going by stats we seem to be OK out of the center square bounce but to my eye we seem to allow opposition to get on a run of easy streaming out of the center clearances in a clump. FWIW my ideal center square clearance mids would be Lachie Neale, Linc McCarthy and Dayne Zorko, none of those 3 are bid bodied though, so I also don't mind Cam Rayner in there to turn things around, we should also try Jarrod Berry in there a bit more.Listening to the Brisbane Lions Supporters Podcast on the weekend, they made the point we could use one more top of the line midfielder because we're still losing a lot of centre clearances. One of things that I think gets overlooked in list management discussions is the latent capacity on the list and the impact of natural development.
If an additional inside midfielder is required, then an option already is to play Berry through the middle for longer. McCluggage won’t be on a wing forever. I personally think Bailey ends up in the midfield. And then we have a bunch of others who can play a role or who are still very early in their development.
If Coniglio is gettable, then of course we’d make it happen. But I don’t think we need to scour the league for another inside mid.
I also think clearances are no longer the critical stat. Richmond lose clearances on an average of 4.4 per game.
