Surprised this hasn't been mentioned as yet, unless we really are all in for Logan McDonald.

Trade picks 4 and 24 to North for picks 2 and 30.....then offer picks 2 and 30 plus future pick to Bombers for picks 6 and 8 if they have their hearts set on McDonald.

We draft Archie Perkins and Zac Reid/Nic Cox plus Connor Downie.
Bombers upgrade from Zac Reid to definitely Logan McDonald and say Tanner Bruhn but trade out one of their early picks for pick 30 for the McDonald privilege.
North get their man Elijah Hollands plus the bonus of a 6 pick upgrade in second round.

Fair and reasonable for all parties?
I just don't see North risking missing out on Hollands for a 6 upgrade in the second round, it just isn't worth the risk for them

Why wouldn't Essendon just do the deal of 2 and 30 with Nth? Because they won't do it. They are only willing to give up one top 10 pick to move up

They are risking missing the kid they want at the Swans pick (small chance) just for a 6 pick upgrade in the 2nd round?

No chance.
Tiny risk as $tains want a tall with their first pick. They have two academy mids they will be taking

I bet this is for us to bid on Campbell, I reckon he’s the one we want the most. If we promise a bid on Campbell to North then we won’t need to add much for the swap. Maybe a swap of pick 30 and 24.
I would love it. Plus Campbell is worth it.

The commentary on our board about the draft this year is something I've never seen.

We literally go from "this player is the target", *hears bad press*, "Hollands look fat".

Do you remember 2004? most of that was on HHQ though

Step 1 - bid on Campbell. Swans burn their pick.
Step 2 - take their tall
Step 3 - party

I wish the clubs would actually do spiteful things like this but they don't, honestly they're more likely to err the other way. Dodoro with Mosquito is the only time in recent memory I can remember a club over bidding on a certain player.

Or we just take the key forward instead of the two flankers?

This sort of thing in the NBA costs you a future first round pick. I do agree it would likely cost more than the 6 pick upgrade in the second round.

There is no way I see it happening and Hawks being able to move inside the Downie bid so maybe there is another line of thought?

North already have two picks in the second round. Would think it is more likely Hawks moved back to their second one at 39.

We might consider pick 24 at this point just being excess, if it means we can guarantee our first choice it makes sense in trading.

Agree it's an excess for this year, but we should be using it to improve our position next year, not burning it for what seems to be just an improved shot at the top 5.

But, on the other hand, if we have done all of our due diligence, and we believe we won't have access to who we want with pick 5, then we have to back our team in don't we?

Interesting night tomorrow night, looking forward to it.

Surely it can't be Logan McDonald we are after? We have no idea of the Crows may take him with their first pick. It would be too much of a risk unless we were convinced they are taking Thilthorpe.

We can do the swap after their pick if the cards fall how we expect. We may still do to get DGB before swans.
