AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Archie Perkins interviewed on Sportsday Radio yesterday and asked straight out where he thinks / would like to go to and answered Hawthorn or Essendon
It didn't end well.....or did it?The last tall fwd we picked at 5 from WA worked out ok
2 flagsIt didn't end well.....or did it?
Swans must want him.So we are looking to trade up to pick 2 to snare Logan, I say we roll the dice and hope he slides to us anyway.
Logan is the target!!
Alrighty. Can someone lay out how the Hawks North swap would look?
Seems extreme unders, moving up in the top end of the Draft is so hard.maybe Norths Pick 2 and 30 for our 4 and 24? idk? or future second? idk?
Do the Swans want Logan? That is the key question.Seems extreme unders, moving up in the top end of the Draft is so hard.
Realistically it just seems to hard to get a deal done like this without an extra first coming in to the equation and obviously i see no way we would even consider this. I would be very surprised if this somehow eventuates.
First of all, I take if you've never been to a track meet or watched the Olympics (hint, full acceleration isn't reached prior to 20 metres, it's between 35-55 metres).
Secondly though, even forgetting the above, I think you'd appreciate that over 20 metres, even if two athletes have the same high end speed, the one who accelerates faster is going to wind up out in front at the end of 20 metres.
But mostly, see point 1.
I think the deal reads OK. Especially if we believe Downie is going to be bid on early. Pick 24 gets us nothing.Seems extreme unders, moving up in the top end of the Draft is so hard.

They are risking missing the kid they want at the Swans pick (small chance) just for a 6 pick upgrade in the 2nd round?I think the deal reads OK. Especially if we believe Downie is going to be bid on early. Pick 24 gets us nothing.
These pick swaps could be what will do Cal over with his intel.I hate being negative about certain players and prospects but I would be genuinely disappointed if we took McDonald. As far as gettable talls go, I'd prefer DGB over either McDonald or Thilthorpe - if that was the aim of getting Pick 2 I'd be more accepting.
Honestly I reckon the real power move is get #2 from Norf, then on-trade and bend Essendon over for multiple picks. Judging on the reports of who we've been most regularly interviewing, it seems like there's more noise about a couple of kids in that 5-10 period over McDonald.

I thought we'd try and use 24 to upgrade to a better pick and avoid using it on Downie so pushing it out to 30 would prob mean it would be used on Downie?maybe Norths Pick 2 and 30 for our 4 and 24? idk? or future second? idk?
It happens every year. The commentary on our board about the draft this year is something I've never seen.
We literally go from "this player is the target", *hears bad press*, "Hollands look fat".
