Cal Toomey did well! Got the first two right, jagged a couple in the teens, otherwise zip!

How much do they pay him to do this!

He was bloody spot on live though.

At each lick he was scarily accurate about who would be picked next.

To the point where I was starting to wonder if he got the feed ahead of the audience

Pretty hard job to do though. All it takes is one surprise pick and it can throw out the whole thing. It would be a concern if he got it 100% spot on as he would know too much

Wasn't the AFL feed like 10 seconds behind genuine live feed?

Let’s see how their 3 recruits stack up against our trio of Rozee Duursma and Butters in coming years.

We don't have to compare ourselves to them you know.

Adelaide's done well finding three lads that 'look' Crow. Jonesy's like "Who da man?"

By my count we only have 37 players on our main list plus 5 Cat A Rookies.

Will another 2 players be added to the main or Rookie list and if so when?

I believe we are allowed a total of 44 including Rookies.

If the list stays as is I will not be expecting too much at SANFL level.

So, the Cows 're-listed retired midfielder Bryce Gibbs as a Rookie for administrative reasons with his contract.'

How does that work? Is he playing for South or the Cows? How can a club re list a retired player as a Rookie and not intend to play him?

We've just picked up a retired player who we have no intention of playing. Retired players stay on lists for salary cap purposes all the time.

I think trading 44 for 49 and a future fourth shows what we thought of the draft. Also trading out our first rounder. Also picking goldsack with our first rookie pick. We basically had one live speculative tall pick. I think teams trying to rebuild using this draft might be disappointed.

I suspect we missed out on someone who we were hoping would be there at 44.
e.g.
40. Richmond: Samson Ryan
41. Carlton: Jack Carroll
42. North Melbourne: Phoenix Spicer
43. Brisbane Lions: Harry Sharp

Fair enough but Gibbs signed with South Adelaide so we assume that deal is off.

Hasn't Goldsack also got a development role at Alberton? I suspect we Rookied him to fill a gap at the Magpies more than anything. Obviously the Cows have done the same with Gibbs.

We will have Sutcliffe and Goldsack to bolster the SANFL side and if we only have 37 players on the main list we will need them.

Should we expect the SANFL clubs to start sooking because the Power and the Cows have each Rookie listed a 150+ game AFL player they have no intention of playing at AFL level?

But how can he be on the Crows list and play for South Adelaide? No AFL in the SANFL (unless it's convenient).

That's a bizarre conclusion to reach from someone stating their opinion on and internet forum without making any statements about other people's opinions.

I am entitled to my opinion and maybe you should read back over the posts? I do not see any thing bizzare in defending another person's right to raise an issue on what is supposed to be an open forum.

The fact is both the Power and the Crows rookie listed a player with 150 games of AFL experience under the belt with no intention of playing them at AFL level. That might well provoke a response from the SANFL clubs who may see it as a means of circumventing the draconian conditions they have imposed upon us. How is that not an issue? I am not saying anyone should lose any sleep on it but it is something to discuss. Anyone who who does not want to comment need only pass.

Tyson Goldsack was originally appointed as the Port Magpies leadership player after Cam Sutcliffe was elevated. He did not fulfill the role because of COVID restrictions. We have subsequently appointed Sutcliffe back into his original role and Rookie listed his replacement. That effectively gives us two Leadership players at SANFL level where we are only supposed to have one. I am not knocking the move as I think it is great thinking but the SANFL clubs may not see it that way. They are probably not in a position to do much about it this year but you can bet they will tighten the screws even further next year.
