A young Shannon Hurn maybe?

There are similarities there too, but Jones is quicker and more athletic. He has a range of different qualities, more an ensemble than an individual star.

Because of Lachie Jones's size, his proven performance against men and his elite kicking skills, I think his draft range would have been slightly higher if he wasn't a NGA Player.
I also hope that due to Covid-19 the club has a Smokey that we might draft with a late luck or rookie. Strange year this draft knowing what our first pick is and possibly our second. So far good list management

Jones could become the prototype to matchup on the Martin's, Dangerfield's, Fyfe's of the world. Tall enough, strong enough, athletic enough, good one on one defensively, comfortable wether they take him midfield or into the 50.

Duursma inspiring future draftee Ryan Angwin

When the COVID-19 pandemic halted the season in March, Duursma returned to his family home in Foster. To stay in shape during the months to come, he phoned Angwin to see if he was up to the task of testing himself with an AFL fitness program.

"We did running sessions together during the shutdown, three times a week. Then, after the running sessions were over, we'd have a bit of a kick and work on the fundamentals … kicking, handballing, that sort of stuff.

"Now that he's back home again at the moment, we've started doing more stuff together so that hopefully after the draft I'll be ready to go."

i cant see what currency we have to make the trade.
only have next years first and would need a a second coming back for next year.
I would only hope its to get a tall. We have to stop at some point future trading though and get back to normal. no robbing peter to pay paul.

But to be honest its one of the sections of the club i have 100% faith in!

Bigfooty Phantom Draft

11 - Lachlan Jones
51 - Zac Dumesny
62 - Phoenix Spicer

Lets hope the real draft goes the same way and Taj falls to the rookie draft

On paper ... But compare us to the likes of Geelong & Hawthorn, who have traded their picks away year after year, and now have minimal developing young players ... we are chock full of young talent, with some more good ones about to be added this year. Our drafting has over the last few years has seriously set this team up.

If we are trying to trade back into this draft, it would have to be for a key position player. In the next 5 years we can expect to farewell Dixon, Gray, Motlop, Hartlett, Jonas, McKenzie, Lycett, Boak and Rockliff leaving us with:

Fantasia. ................. Georgiades
Rozee Marshall. Williams
Amon. Wines. Duursma
Burton. Aliir. Houston
Byrne-Jones. ................. Clurey
Hayes. Powell-Pepper Butters
Ladhams. Bergman. Schofield. Jones

Farrell Bonner Garner Drew T.Burgoyne J.Burgoyne Woodcock Mead Frederick Pasini

In other words we are set except for FB and FF. That line up is pretty much “set and forget” . Parker and Cripps can take long service leave if we were to jag a 10 year key position player.

Could we be making a play for Baldwin? Cox? Reid? Don’t forget, we’ve got Chalmers to add in after the Tokyo Olympics;)

thats an exciting 22 to play right now. hope they get a nab cup game looking like that.
Add Pasini in the mix in the backlines to, really like what he brings. 193cms

would be a waste if it isnt a tall in a draft like this.

Bigfooty Phantom Draft

11 - Lachlan Jones
51 - Zac Dumesny
62 - Phoenix Spicer

Lets hope the real draft goes the same way and Taj falls to the rookie draft

Dumesny has been playing at senior level for South Adelaide, where he's averaged 15 disposals in three games this year.

Last weekend was his best game with 19 touches and a goal, while he can play across half-forward, half-back and the wing. Dumesny is good above his head and a versatile option for club.

I wouldn't be making a "play" for Baldwin with his TWO knee reconstructions.

Take that and keep our first for next yr unless there is a tall we really like to jump back in.

Can't do that. We've nominated Taj, therefore at minimum he must be taken with our last Main draft pick.

Obviously with the NGA's as has been said in this thread, we're unsure if the same requirement applies to them, but for F/S's it is clear and is in the rule book.

I think Cox or Chapman would be our potential targets. Interesting that we're potentially trading out of next years draft. I assume it's because the Vic kids not drafted this year, can be picked up in next years mid season rookie drafts (after rounds 4,8 &12), thereby reducing the expected increased draft pool at the end of 2021. They would also be predicting that Burgoyne might eat up our 1st round pick. Interesting times...

When Ricciuto started at West he started on a back flank, but was always seen as a potential midfielder.

So rightly or wrongly he's the player who Im going to compare Jones with.

Can someone put the picks we have in the thread title?
Our list stands at 34-3-1.

We have 6 picks, but can use a max of 4 main draft picks with 1 rookie pick.

We can of course go 3 main and 2 rookie, or 2 and 3.

By nominating Schofield we have committed that we will take him in main draft.
