This was my thought too, it’s very “Adelaide”.

I think trading up will be difficult given where the picks landed in the trade period. So, if we’re pulling that move and trading out of this draft with Pick 22 or 23, then hopefully we’re aiming for a 2021 1st Round pick from somebody who expects to be up there next year along with a 2020 mid to late 3rd/Early 4th for NGA/Father Son points.

22 and Melbourne's 2021 2nd rounder for someone's 2021 first rounder and their 2021 3rd rounder?

Couldn’t we move Gooch or Mackay to the rookie list?
There is no mechanism for moving players directly from the senior list to the rookie list. The only way to do this is to delist them, and then re-draft them in the RD. I don't see any point in re-drafting these players.
also is it correct that if Newchurch reaches rookie list he isn’t counted as he would be categorie B?
Correct.

Yes, he hinted we could possibly look at pick swaps before the draft and we could take 3 to 5 live picks. I think something will happen before draft night.

I'm a bit vague on swapping of Draft Pick rules. Can we swap draft picks right up until, and during the Nation Draft?

In terms of list sizes, salary cap-permitting, I hope we go with the maximum 44 players (38/6). IMO, a team in rebuild mode should be making every attempt to 'try' as many players as possible.

Anyway, really looking forward to the draft. Hoping we can upgrade 9 into the top-5 somehow. I'll leave that up to Binuk and the boys.

What was the name of that big Irish guy that we had train with us last offseason again? He was the last player we tried to Cat B rookie wasn't he? I wonder if he's worth a second swing at?

Ooops... as Scorpus has rightly pointed out, we also have Butts on the rookie list. This means that our Cat A rookie list is currently full, unless we delist Crocker. Note that Newchurch would be a Cat B rookie, if he no club selects him in the ND. Borlase would be too, but I can't see him surviving the ND.

no I wouldn’t either. Just that you were pointing out that delisting Gooch or Crocker are totally different. We could delist both and rookie Gooch in Crockers spot, effectively moving on Crocker instead of Gooch. Personally would move on all 4 and try someone like Phoenix Spicer, who at least has potentially a high ceiling.

Reckon fair chance we move 22 + 40 for a pick in the teens and then 23 for a 1st in 2021,

Use 3 picks in the top 20 on top end talent and then pickup Borlase, Newchurch. I've all but given up on Edwards.

Plus it's gonna be difficult to squeeze in 6 players to the senior list.

I really want Logan McDonald or Elijah Hollands personally, but have no idea which way we will go.

Really like the look of Poulter too. Cook also, plenty of talent around.

Oh look, it’s another beaming comment of positivity.

You can only stomach this board if you liberally mute the one-note negative folks.

Doesn't mean just sunshine and light. Scorpus and 1970Crow and Sanders are often negative, but they're also often quality posts.

It's the "everything is bad" nuffys you need to mute.

No. No way we will trade pick 1. Absolutely none

Trading with the Swans would make a LOT of sense, if we don't want McDonald.

We're still guaranteed one of Hollands and Thilthorpe, plus whatever upgrades we get for the trade.

If we don't want McDonald, it's almost foolish to NOT trade down.

We have lost Brouch and may lose Mrouch next year.

I think Hollands is a lock. Getting the "best" mid with our 1st pick should be our goal.

Yes this is sound philosophy if we are not after McDonald.

Our squad has multiple holes in it, we need multiple 1st rounders to rebuild it.

If we get Hollands, reckon Essendon will load the picks van up to North to get McDonald at 2.

Could turn into:
WB - JUH
Crows - Hollands
Essendon - McDonald
Sydney - Phillips
Hawthorn - DGB
Gold Coast -
North -
North -
Essendon -
Crows -

Wonder then if we could give 9 and 22 or 23 to GC for 5 as they need another 500 or so points to get Davies and Jeffrey in assuming they go between 12-22 as projected.
GCS don't need points.

They can prelist those players.

Interesting that WB have basically conceded that we will bid on JUH and so traded accordingly.

From here I might be interested in trading pick 1 for pick 3 and a future 1st.

Sydney get in and get McDonald ahead of any bid for Campbell. Good trade for them.
We get a 1st in 2021 and will either get Hollands or Thilthorpe anyway.

Could be a fairly good win-win.
