Interesting that WB have basically conceded that we will bid on JUH and so traded accordingly.

From here I might be interested in trading pick 1 for pick 3 and a future 1st.

Sydney get in and get McDonald ahead of any bid for Campbell. Good trade for them.
We get a 1st in 2021 and will either get Hollands or Thilthorpe anyway.

Could be a fairly good win-win.
Sydney would be mad not to try and trade up and effectively get an extra top tier player.
Didn't GWS do this last year with Greene?

Lots of phone calls to Braeden Campbell and his family over the next few weeks, put that seed of doubt in Sydneys recruiting team.

We have lost Brouch and may lose Mrouch next year.

I think Hollands is a lock. Getting the "best" mid with our 1st pick should be our goal.
The best mid is Phillips

No way we trade pick 1. Just can't see it.

Crows fans and club need a franchise guy. I'm absolutely spewing we didn't get pick 2, just because we could have landed Either Mcdonald/Thilthorpe + Hollands, but now we will only get one and I have a sneaky feeling we go for Thilthorpe, which at current is my 3rd choice personally.

there will be excellent MID's available at pick 9, so as much as I hate that we won't land Hollands (if we go big with pick 1) we should still get a great player, like Brahn, Macrae, Perkins , Powell etc. Then if we can wrangle another pick and land Poulter / Cook, I'd be happy with that haul.

You can only stomach this board if you liberally mute the one-note negative folks.

Doesn't mean just sunshine and light. Scorpus and 1970Crow and Sanders are often negative, but they're also often quality posts.

It's the "everything is bad" nuffys you need to mute.
The trouble with the ”everything is bad” philosophy is that it doesn’t get you anywhere, and always masks the truth. Our club has made some questionable calls recently, but we have never approached anything like the cataclysmic mess that Collingwood has just manufactured. Seeing their list manager trying to paint it as a deliberate plan to get high into this years draft was Trump like in how cringeworthy it was.

But we would be after their 2021 r1 or r2 picks in such a deal (otherwise why would we bother). We can really mess up their draft hand if they don't deal with us so hopefully we put the squeeze on them.

I'm not committing to will get. Its Adelaide after all, and this club certainly baffles me at times.
We've always gone the best available, which has led us to a lot of flankers, but I don't expect that philosophy to change this draft.

Trading with the Swans would make a LOT of sense, if we don't want McDonald.

We're still guaranteed one of Hollands and Thilthorpe, plus whatever upgrades we get for the trade.

If we don't want McDonald, it's almost foolish to NOT trade down.
I heard the list boss of Sydney speak yesterday and he mentioned 2 or 3 times that they were looking to strengthen their draft hand. Strange thing to say for a guy who holds pick 3 and has 2 NGA's who will absorb all their remaining picks.

Makes me believe that they might be a club with a 'throw the chips in' type trade up their sleeve!

I can't get off Hollands as my draft crush. I keep telling myself to like McDonald more cause its likely him and he's not coming back from a year off with an ACL, but then something about Hollands in our team seems so much more exciting!

Wonder if we might re-rookie Ayce Taylor, got the vibe from the other lads social media he was very popular amongst the group and he did hang around for the B&F. Pretty sure he had a gig lined up in the VFL before we swooped so I guess we'll keep monitoring his progress anyhow.

To be honest i've never seen him kick a Sherrin, so I have very little opinion on him. I am however very interesting in that young super quick kid Matthews, who did his knee in the U23's game last season. That was such a shame for him. Hope he can get back to where he was!

That would be a nice fairytale. Taylor was delisted after never having been given the opportunity to represent the club at any level. He's arguably the unluckiest player in AFC history, in that regard.

So we've lost Brad Ouch-me-hammy, Kyle Oh-no-not-again, RAT Offkins, Good Knight, and Pryce Gibb$....

Spring cleaning done. Time for some nice shiny new stuff.

(DMac is like the old lounge everyone loves to sit on, but is starting to look a bit worn. It's really not that comfortable, it's just familiar. We might send it to Vinnies if they want it.)

But 1 will be at 5, so we need to be asking some questions of the Sun's.
I think this is we’re we have to have open minds. If we think Phillips or Holland’s will be there at 5 and we rate them higher than whoever we think will be available next year then trading next years 1st for 5 would be worth doing. If we think we definitely can get Horne next year, and that he will be a significant step up on those 2 then we definitely shouldn’t. It really comes down to talent evaluation and a realistic view of our prospects next year.

Taylor ran a sub 3.00 sec 20m sprint at last year's Vic State Combine so he's pretty slippery too and an excellent 78cm standing vertical jump and tested well for agility also. Our Vic scout Steve McCrystal loved his speed, athleticism and versatility according to reports at the time..

And unlike the Vic lads who we had no form gauge on we did see a lot of Ayce in the scratch matches....the devil we do know looking at a rookie list spot.

Quite possibly they've decided 22 and 23 is better than 14.
I'm beginning to like that we still hold 22/23 instead of 14.
With such a lack of footy this yr it wouldn't surprise me if Hamish grabbed a couple of guns he's been watching for yrs knowing that if there was footy this yr and players had been exposed to the recruiters they would have been walk up first rounders in the draft.

Two things -

The next trade period could be interesting for players it potentially puts back on the table - IF they do another 24 hour trade period before the draft.

Second. The three possible midseason "drafts" next year, when you can pick up 19 year Olds who weren't drafted this year.

SURELY we keep some powder dry to put bids on players there? There'll certainly be players who were missed this year who emerge next year, and could be grabbed before the end of year draft?

The delistings of Mackay, Gooch, Dots, and Crock-of-shite haven't been officially announced yet, have they? There's nothing up on the AFC or AFL website, as far as I can see.

No, just presenting it laid out simply.

Folks can adjust numbers up and down based on what they think might instead happen - if Gallucci stays, say, just assume we use one less pick.

I was just trying to show a version that had us using the picks we have, which I think is the most likely scenario.

It's mostly to show that we need to still keep cutting to even use picks we have (with 40 probably becoming 35 or so), and that it's unlikeky we take another DFA.

Any trade that keeps us in the top 3 while adding additional value would be a great win for us.

Those top 3 players look hard to split and we could cash in from a club's desperation for a particular target
