And now for some actual AFL discussion. Really interesting read about player salaries and the cuts agreed to for this season and probably next year as well.

"But take it as read that player contracts for next year will have to be revisited too."

How is everyone coping overall without the footy? Is it easier than you thought, or is it torture?
Copping alright most likely because I have no choice, more worried if and how the club survives this coming out the other end. We could be 20 mill in debt at the end of the year.
Really missing golf

Easier, FF7 remake has taken up basically all of my Easter break, timing could not be better without the palpitations of "will we, won't we, why don't you aim for the big sticks".

I'm more struggling now that I'm stuck in doors most of the time. I went in to work today to tidy up just to get away from the family for a couple of hours. Took the kids and the dog to the racecourse after that and then ended up back at home bored again. I hate sitting still, yesterday I made Jamie Oliver bread even, I want to punch myself for being a sad Gwyneth Paltrow like domestic loser. Getting through books though which is good, just found a pile of unread books to get through too. Saved me from starting to reread my pretentious collection of borderline unreadable w***er literature that I keep to look smarter than I am.

Todays West Australian newspaper ran a full length back page saying two Melbourne teams should be kicked out the AFL. The journo Mark Duffield got to putting out what he really wants , by getting someone else to say it. What he alluded to today and has done so in the past , is St.Kilda must be the 1st of those Melbourne teams to be kicked out of the AFL , and that there is no better time to do it. It's not what you want to read at this time , and the image of the club survivor style torches , with St.Kilda's the only one knocked over , got to me a great deal. A fair few people out there are also having shots. If 2 clubs go , you are putting a great number of people out of jobs , and losing hundreds of thousands of AFL viewers forever. I don't get it. Everyone will lose.

Who is this clown?

Personally I love Kevin Sheedys idea for a longer season for the next few years. The idea is to pump more money into the game.

I’m all for it, so long as they don’t reduce the quarter lengths too. The reduced quarters needs to disappear as soon as possible.
Shorter quarters are here to stay. Lethlean said it was one of the things the clubs had been pushing for some time.

Longer season means we’re probably all going to have to cough up more for our memberships too. And considering many of us are paying for nothing this season (as it appears right now) I’m not sure that’s going to endear the AFL to the membership-paying public if “pump more money into the game” is coming out of our pockets.

Have to admit I had a slight moment of terror when an “AFL Star” had driven drunk and fled the scene this morning.

How refreshing that it wasn’t us? Fees like we haven’t had a so called scandal for years!
I wonder what the implications for his teammate Bailey Smith who removed him from the scene.

Given players are fitter than ever, it shouldn't be considered. You can't just change 150 years of tradition like that.
Your right though - it shouldn't change.

The argument is that the players are now so fit and they play the game at such an intensity that injuries occur towards the end of the quarters and that performance drops off as they get tired.

That's just nonsense - its like saying the 100 metres should only be 80 metres because the evidence shows that Usain Bolt was quicker between 60 to 80 metres than between 80 to 100 metres or that marathons should only be 21 km's long so that the runners can at a faster speed for the entire event.

15, 27 or 32 minutes, it doesn't matter - coaches should be developing strategies to ensure their players can last the quarter by better managing effort during the quarter just like a marathon runner because they know they've got to be in front at the end - not the 21 km mark.

Im bored as batshit.

Lets go after L. Hunter could be cheap
He didn't test over the limit. He tested what the average Australian has in thier system at the moment.
