cunners is more integral to our team than Papley
papley can’t do what cunners can but many can do what papley does

This really intrigued me. Papley can’t do what Cunners does? Papley averages more games, more possessions, is the same age and has 126 goals compared to 17.
Cunners averages 3.4 tackles whilst Papley averages 3.3.

Many can do what Papley does, except Cuningham. Hopefully last nights game is the one that allows him to take the next step as a player.

Are you playing Levi, Harry, Charle, Gov in the one side?

I don’t think it’s t works and even before we talk about TDK.

It doesn’t have to be Levi who misses but one should.

As a quick exercise, if Harry and Charlie were both fit and available next week, who are you dropping for them?

I had the same question after our win in this thread last week. I suggested Charlie play higher up the ground in a Richo like role.

Someone suggested leave him in the goal square, then that pushes someone out, probably Gov or Harry at this point.

I feel if it's Harry, and he continually misses games he won't hang around. He'll ask for a trade. Is that something we can afford? Maybe, with TDK still to come through.

I don't play Harry until he starts playing with real intent.

Personally I think Charlie is at his best closer to goal and Harry is at his best up the ground.

Levi has been fantastic and deserves his spot, I just don’t think the 4 can co exist, which means we have a surplus of forwards.

Chances of zero KPP being injured is pretty low. It is not a bad thing to have a spare quality one.

Interesting comments regarding our trade attempt on Tom Papley. Sounds extremely unlikely now.

Sydney can’t afford loose him he’s in there top 5 players easily, they’ll fight hard to keep him...
It all depends on Papley if he wants to get back home again Family/Partner then there’s still a chance, obviously his value is skyrocketing so we’re going to pay overs, the position of the first round plays a huge part in the whole deal itself..
If it was to be a top 5 pick that with maybe a swap/shuffle of other picks might be close, if it’s a pick around 10 plus then a second rounder would be needed to get the deal done...
At worst 2 first rounders with a second rounder coming back might be what Sydney demand too let him go...

You and others already know how I feel

While Papley is a very good player, you don't start dismantling what we are building

Not too long ago, some were suggesting we could add a Cunners to the trade

How does that call look tonight?
Yeah many have declared a lot of these draftees as bad selection, crap, can’t play, no good, won’t make it, should have drafted someone else, trade them out now etc etc.. A lot of these kids have been unfairly smashed way too quickly...

Harry, McGovern, Charlie starting forward; Casboult starting on the bench.

Harry, McGovern, and Charlie all play 80% TOG, with Casboult covering the collective 60% time they’re off. Casboult then plays 20% time in the ruck for Pittonet.

McGovern 80% forward

McKay 80% forward

Charlie 80% forward

Casboult 60% forward, 20% ruck

Pittonet 80% ruck

Why can't Harry or Charlie literally smash down the door for a spot in the best 22? Levi is more consistent and effective than both. In career best form. Why do we have an attitude at carlton that top draft picks with talent should be automatically included? If Charlie and Harry were both in the mix for selection, I'd expect one of them to play in the vfl and demand their spot by kicking a bag

Would see what else is available before throwing money at B. Crouch. Very good contested ball winner and strong at clearances from stoppages. Think we do need one or two quality mids to come in despite the development of Dow, Fisher, Kemp, Setterfield etc. Not guaranteed that they will all become main stays and get to where we need them to be. If they do, we will save our coin and spend else where.

Wines would be a better fit for us, not ideal but better. Many don’t see or don’t understand that despite his contested nature he is damaging coming I50.
If Papley requests again, the club needs to make him no 1 priority.

These wins and this season is buoying my confidence in saying that the time has come for mature top quality players and top 18 year old first round talent who need years of development should not be our priority any more (unless it’s a Matt Rowell haha).

.

I have been thinking this exact thing.
We were unable to get the deals done last trade period for the 2 players who nominated us.
Obviously we ended up getting Martin for free, but if that hadn’t happened we really ran the risk of making players second guess us when it came to choosing a destination. If we get a reputation for letting the players down they won’t choose us.
I believe the offer for Papley was fair but Sydney were playing hard ball (which was totally understandable as he has such a long contract), and the one for Martin was probably calling Gold Coast’s bluff rather than offering market value.
At the end of the day it’s a perception-based industry. If we are perceived as a club who don’t go the extra mile to get the players who pick us, they’ll soon stop picking us.

We did go the extra mile to get Martin

Yep

On form, Levi plays ahead of Harry. Doesn't matter if he's fit.
But if you insist on Harry playing. Newnes out, Gov to a wing.
Charlie replaces Jsos.

Good to see you round these parts again.

You are entitled to your opinion, but your opinion is silly. We - and most clubs - have had precious small issue attracting players in the past, and won't in the future.
