Solid response.
Barass the guru from the Carlton board posted Wines won’t be at Port next year. Always speculation but this guys track record is very impressive.
Its a pity, they’ll get a decent pick, prefer he stays at Port
First off you don’t know how the other clubs rated him, so my response was justified, I could have just said bullshit.Solid response.
Just like when the Suns were lauded for holding onto Martin only to lose him for nothing.
You overrated Keaths worth on the open market..... by a fair margin too. He'd have got to the Dogs in the PSD almost no question.
I have a fair idea because nobody else came to the party when we were in a stalemate.First off you don’t know how the other clubs rated him, so my response was justified, I could have just said bullshit.
Gold Coast gave up decent picks for Martin, they were dumb especially when they weren’t going to redraft him as there was only one other club Melbourne who could grab him.
There were a number of clubs before the Bulldogs pick, you have no idea if I overrated his worth as you dont know if they valued Keath. What we do know is we hung out until the very end so we obviously didn’t value what they gave us and wanted more.

No one else came to the party? Seriously? You are hanging your hat on that?I have a fair idea because nobody else came to the party when we were in a stalemate.
We said we were happy to keep him so why didn't we ?? There's things to whinge about but this isn't one of them. We got market value.
People here just rated him higher than the club did.
Future second and something else I believe. In the end they gave up a first rounder for a 2019 second.Did they? I didn't think Blues were offering much in the end.
The only annoying thing about it, is afl.com.au is trying to suggest Crows fans thought there was ever a chance of him coming to the Crows. So Grundy used the threat of going home to get his seven year deal, kudos to him.
Because they were the only ones who offered him a good deal.No one else came to the party? Seriously? You are hanging your hat on that?
Maybe once in the history of the AFL has another club come to the party and snipped a player and that was Mitch Clark, plus the player has to be amicable to going. Everything out of Keath was that is was only the Bulldogs that he was going to be traded to.
Why didn’t we? Because we blinked first.
So Grundy used the threat of going home to get his seven year deal, kudos to him.
So you know no other club offered him a good deal but he chose the Bulldogs because he thought they would be a contender?Because they were the only ones who offered him a good deal.
I'm disappointed to lose him, but let's not pretend he was crucial to us. A young developing side doesn't need a 28yo 3rd tall.
So we didn't want him badly but they did, hence why we weren't too fussed to lose him for what we did.So you know no other club offered him a good deal but he chose the Bulldogs because he thought they would be a contender?
He is crucial to the Bulldogs though and that’s the point, they pinched him for next to nothing, when really they wanted him badly
Except we waited until the end so we obviously wanted more and the fact they did want him badly means we should have made them pay, that’s just logic. So we didn't want him badly but they did, hence why we weren't too fussed to lose him for what we did.
It's clear you and I don't agree, which is fine. Most AFL scribes had the deal around the same the whole way through.
Thing is, not many clubs were opting out of the first round.Except we waited until the end so we obviously wanted more and the fact they did want him badly means we should have made them pay, that’s just logic.
In terms of scribes, you referring to Jon Ralph? Because I’m sure I read suggestions of their first for our second, then our second for Bruce.
But some did, those that traded for players they really wantedThing is, not many clubs were opting out of the first round.
Ralphy is Melbourne's Rooch
They offered him 600K..... not a huge sum of money in today's AFL.But some did, those that traded for players they really wanted
Is the suggestion that Carlton are showing the most interest in him at this stage ??Barass the guru from the Carlton board posted Wines won’t be at Port next year. Always speculation but this guys track record is very impressive.
Its a pity, they’ll get a decent pick, prefer he stays at Port
Many did, even here on BF. I was told repeatedly that signing him wasn't going to happen, because they have so many players coming out of contract and wouldn't be able to fit them under the salary cap if they paid his asking price. The only annoying thing about it, is afl.com.au is trying to suggest Crows fans thought there was ever a chance of him coming to the Crows.
Mostly it was our board suggesting the first for Keath and a second. It almost never came up as an option in the media.Thing is, not many clubs were opting out of the first round.

So not enough to scare other clubs off....They offered him 600K..... not a huge sum of money in today's AFL.
You have no idea if only one genuine club wanted him and it was mentioned in the media, but most of them just mentioned the first and not the second coming back.Mostly it was our board suggesting the first for Keath and a second. It almost never came up as an option in the media.
I'm sure we held and held, but ultimately this wasn't like Carlisle leaving Essendon, when Hawthorn stepped in late to try and snatch him away. No one else seemed to want to make an offer close to what WB would give him. He only had one genuine club who wanted him - and if no one aggressively wanted him, it's hard to see who would have wanted to pay him his asking price in the PSD.
We got less than he's worth but probably it's the price the market set.
