Also..... they traded Howard and still have Hinkley.

You couldn't make it up.
Also from that side Impey, Pittard, Wingard and Polec have gone. Impey has blossomed, Pittard wasn’t too bad for North, Wingard impacted by injury again and Polec was good again.

Interesting how Howard goes.

Having said that we aren’t strangers to poor list decisions, we gave Keath away for nothing.

We gave him away for slightly unders.

We gave him away
Agree to disagree, people who thought we were getting a first rounder either had far too many drugs or just overrated what someone would pay for a 28yo 3rd tall defender under 30 games.

Yes we will, and no one expected a straight up first rounder, we were giving 23 back. Funny how much the Bulldogs are paying this 28yo and how crucial he is seen for their premiership push. It was nice of us to make them stronger for very little cost.

Brad crouch
I'd take Brad on 7x$700k rather than 5x$900k

Slightly more $ but saves us some $ each year in the cap and would also allow us to negotiate something for the last couple of years if his body doesn't hold up

We gave him away
We got market value which was a 2nd round pick.

The fact the dogs will go OK this year means it will be slight unders. He's 28 in a couple of days, and played one decent year of footy and out of contract.

There was no way we were getting a first for him. You can argue if we had this year's 2nd for him earlier in the trade period, we could have traded that up with our 2nd for a first, but I think we have done well with our first 3 picks this year

Strike Grundy of your FA list until about 2028
Never in doubt. Bloke in the prime of his career playing in a premiership threat team wasn't about to jump ship to try and sort out our mess.

That’s not actually an or, that’s you trying to justify why we gave him away

If it was such a fair trade, we wouldn't have waited until the very last minute.

Fact is we accepted a half eaten bag of Orio's for him. Other clubs knew we were in desperate salary cap strife and played it to their advantage.

So many posters complain that we have never had a genuine rebuild and are happy to finish 5th to 8th every year.

I was one of the first posters to jump on the Keath and Greenwood train and it will be painful watching them play influential roles for other teams this year. Nevertheless, walking away from long term contracts for these two was the right decision. We will be fortunate if we become a contender in 2023, by that time keath will be 31. Do we want to pump 66 games into Keath over the next three years or use these games to develop McAsey, Butts and possibly Worrell?

It was obvious to the other 17 clubs that we were changing the age profile of our club which meant it was impossible to play hardball with the 28 - 33 year old players we wanted to trade.

Interesting, your argument here is that because a trade went late in the trade period, you know it means the selling club got unders...?

Not necessarily. It means one of the parties caved. Could also mean the destination club agreed to give overs at the last minute (ie. us with Gibbs).

No its not, thats not the question. Even if we didnt want him, why did we give him away? Long way to slip to the Bulldogs in the PSD
He would've slipped that far, no one else was seriously interested enough to bother.
