After much tinkering I think this is pretty close to how my team will look come Round 1 - rookies may change slightly.

With the lack of rookies I've had to go the Grunglish ruck combo - Gawndy just put too many dollars into two players.

The way I see it is I have at least 11 keepers and it could be as high as 15.

Defenders - Laird looks like he'll be back to his best. I think Dawson and Doc are poised for big seasons and are excellent value.

Mids - M1-M5 should all be top 10 mids or thereabouts. Cunnington should be getting more assistance in the North midfield this year and not be so susceptible to the tag which killed his season a bit last year. Hately looks primed to break out, especially in the absence of Taranto (as long as Leon is doesn't get too campaignery).

Rucks - English should step up this season to be a top 5, Grundy should remain top 2 ruck - I can see Gawn's output dropping a bit so am comfortable with the cash freed up by not running Gawndy and being able to bolster my other lines.

Forwards - I expect Whitfield and Dusty to keep rolling along so they are set and forget. Expecing big things from Steven at the cattery.

Not really... I only downgraded to Clug to stack my forwards/backs.

I’m not going less than 5 deep in the middle.
Most with Gawn/Grundy have 4 Premo MIDs, you have 5. Thats effectively the difference; Gawn to Premo M5.

Didn’t think of it like that.

With the lack of rookies, I don’t see how starting 4 premo mids isn’t a total recipe for disaster tbh

4 Premo plus Rowell, Green, Starc and Pickett for me to make up the 8 spots on field.

He’s essentially taken McCluggage (94 avg) over Gawn 130 avg).

Sure, McCluggage might increase to 105 but it’s still hard to justify.
more to it than that.
he bats 5 deep forward and back so only 5 rookies on field

swings and roundabouts

Absolutely more to it than that. 200k difference actually.

For me, the thing I keep coming back to is I have Neale/Macrae etc in my mids but Sauce at R2. Happy with FWD's and DEF's.

If I was to pick Gawn then I'd have 300k for a mid. And it is no mans land for me. Don't see many guys capable of an 85 avg with great JS like Sauce has so that's the reason Gawn won't start in my team. Swings and roundabouts.

Bound to change, but somewhat happy with this at the moment.

Don't really want Bonar, but struggling to see too many cash gen options in the forward line.

Still tossing up between Weller > Houston, bit concerned about Roberton/Houston both out before the byes, and also Hinkley changes his mind on player positions almost weekly.

Whitfield just a bit too pricy when running Grawndy, and I can't justify dropping either of them.

Steven/Brayshaw might turn into Dawson+ Rookie if Steven doesn't look decent today.

My Def and Mids are set.
So the choice is Rucks or Forwards?
What do you think.
I think you need to un-set your def and mids, because both options hurt my brain

Why not find an option with 1 stud and 1 mid-price ruck?

The first option is shocking, you could have donuts as early as round 2 or 3, and potential scores of 20-40

If I bet on or against one premo ruck 90 per cent chance of being wrong.(murphy's law).

22k remaining.
Going with the big guns. Too hard to trade them in later. Some other issue usually arises and throws a spanner in the works.
Having to go light with F4. F4-F6 not the strongest but somewhere has to fall short. Just think if these three play they're more likely to hit 50/60 than many of the other names bandied around.

Does Stephen Hill's injury open up a round 1 debut for Hayden Young? Tossing up between Ash, Young, Noble or McAsey for that spot to fill that Hill had.

With the dearth of rookies my team has turned into a complete madness of mid priced PODs. I really do think this year it might work however as some mid pricers can act as rookies and not blind hits in hope of premo numbers (that’s just a bonus!) Might share later but let’s just say my lowest priced on field player jumps quickly from high 100k’s to mid 200k

im still stuck on this. cant see it changing much.

got my 3 locks in the back. lloyd is too expensive to bring in who is the only one i really want. cummings ash and noble are also locked.

mid 5 premos are also locked. macrae to bont to make some extra cash if i really need it. 3 mid rookies are also locked.

gawndy locked.

whitfield and dusty have to be locked. not happy with a mid pricer in d.smith but it is what it is. would love to somehow turn smith into a premo somewhere and turn him into my 13th premium.
