I would say the players in the 18-25 year would be much more likely to dabble than the 25 + range. Might be the majority, but i would've thought 50% is a bit of a stretch.

I would strongly doubt that there are that many older players that have families etc dabbling at all. I would suspect that number to be much lower than 50%.

It's not being naive either, some players are just more mature and take their profession seriously. If it is over 50%, AFL players have a long way to go in professionalism.

I think Merrett would be a great get
Try and get him early
Offer Bonner and 2022 1st rounder coz the way Burgoyne is going it’d be wasted on him anyway so might as well trade it out and use lower picks for Burgoyne

Who was the last player that traded from Adelaide to Port? David Brown? Have we had any others?

Theres been some the other way... Downsborough, Symes, Frampton

Brett Chalmers?

I don't think there's ever been a real Adelaide player traded to Port, has there?

The ones that have come across have all been ex-Port players coming home, as far as I can remember.

Can a franchise have "real players"

Brad Crouch would be vilified by crowies in the streets, shops, pubs etc if he transferred to Port. I don't think he would have the mental fortitude to deal with it.

Dangerfield got it right, if you leave the crows, get far away from them and he got back to where he would feel comfortable. That's why a Ballarat boy would probably feel more comfortable at Geelong if he left.
I don't know if he would. I reckon a large proportion of Crows fans across the state are wanting him to go so they can get pick 2. Of course the old one-eyed Beryl's who'd defend him if he was a murderer might not accept the move, but I personally feel like the majority are happy to push him out. I may be wrong, but that is the vibe I get, and personally I DGAF if they get pick 2 if we are able to secure him.

And what happens if they don't get pick 2?

I don't think it would be that bad for him. First 3 months or so at the most might be a bit awkward, but people have short memories, they're not going to care after a while. If the Crows were actually playing finals, then a move like this would be more controversial and create a much bigger uproar, but given they're wooden spooners, it really isn't going to be any easier for Crouch to make the move if he so desired.

Matt is slower but Brad is not speedy. Misses goals and doesn't have a consistent work rate imo. For him to play in our midfield it would be for a retired Boak or retired Rockcliff, I don't see how else.

keeps Houston down back where he excels. Hartlett isnt getting any younger. have to replace, Ebert, Rocky, Boak, Gray, Hartlett etc sooner rather than later

I would push Houston up front with Ebert and gray near end

That's the conundrum though, right - Boak is 32 and Rocky 31 start of next season. Brad does not fill an immediate need but would be handy support for Ollie over the next 3-5 years.

I know we have to replace them but the issue is the overlapping years regarding Crouch and our older midfielders.

I listened to Crouch declare that Port haven't contacted his management.
