Okay so based on some rumours what I'm hearing is the following. Satisfies all parties.

Richmond:
OUT: Dustin Martin
IN: Hamish Hartlett, WB 1st rounder

WB:
OUT: Marcus Bontempelli, 1st rounder
IN: Jarrod Lienert, Sydney's 3rd rounder, Port 2nd rounder

Sydney:
OUT: Aliir Aliir, 3rd rounder
IN: Riley Bonner

Port:
OUT: Hamish Hartlett, Riley Bonner, Jarrod Lienert, 2nd rounder
IN: Dustin Martin, Marcus Bontempelli, Aliir Aliir
That's quite creative that you've managed to have 3 out of 4 clubs in a 4 way fantasy trade lose badly. Usually it's the posters club a clear winner, a couple of meh and a clear loser. Bravo, bravo.

At the end of the 2018 season, Aliir Aliir had the highest percentage won of one on one contests in the league and was also ranked equal-first for average intercept marks.

He was only 24 then, at 26 he is more experienced and stronger.

That screams Montgomery-approved defender.

Aliir's the most sensible option to cover our lack of Key Defence depth, I've heard of, so far. Tarrant's too old. Current back 6 or 7 have done little wrong in 2020, so I don't see he's guaranteed best 22 in 2021. Maybe he sneaks into some of the back 7 rotations ahead of Burton (until Burton is properly match fit).

Longer term would still like us to go to draft as well. Richmond got a beauty with Balta at pick 25 (Knightmare rated him 6th best talent in his "power ratings". Also Gold Coast got Ballard at Pick 42 (power rating was 18). Time is right to invest a decent pick for the right KPD. If Knightmare can spot talent, I'm sure our recruiters can too! (although has anyone else noticed how badly we use our picks in range 30 to 50 over the years - almost all are flops).

Meanwhile Aliir might be a good fit.

Couldn't think of anything worse than driving into training on a Monday morning in moorabbin, worst facilities in the land.. barely any fans , zero success. Still more of a real club than Adelaide though so goodluck to him.

The RSEA Park development at Moorabbin is pretty decent

Certainly no worse and a lot newer that the Powers set up at Alberton

This is gold!

WB losing Bont plus a 1st rounder for Lienert and some scrubber picks is the icing.

We were definitely keen on Brad..... And he wanted us.

Was always going to be on our terms though. We were even trying to be incredibly creative with our offers

In the end, we didn't want to cough up the $$ or the term.
Fair enough too.
Happy to get him - but on our terms, not his.
Brad needs to make sure mobile phones are switched off before he comes out of the shower though!

What? You reckon Port getting that deal is Meh?
Martin and Bonts for Hartlett and Bonner?

Rory O'Riley, Riley O'Rory, Fogerty and Tyson Stenglein.
Your forgetting Rory O’Rory and Riley O’Riley.

Username to content ratio on point here haha

Aliir Aliir could be a very astute pick up to fill in our defensive line for a few years. Statistically he averages more or similar in one percentres, meters gained, rebound 50s and intercept marks as the following key/intercepting defenders over their careers;

Darcy Moore (all above areas)
Harris Andrews (all bar one percenters)
Jacob Weitering (all bar one percenters)
Noah Balta (all bar meters gained)
Nathan Broad (all bar one percenters)
Oscar McDonald (all bar one percenters)
Jodarn Ridley (all bar meters gained)

Not saying he is as good as the above defenders at all, and those players he’s behind in one percenters on average is only about 1 per game, but he is statistically a very good pickup to fill a defensive position if we’re able to make it happen

Was I watching a different McKenzie to everyone else this year? He’s in his prime, body is finally sound and playing in a position he played most of his juniors before the suns turned him into the “cannon “. fu** yeah I’d bring in Alir, I’ve always like him. Having one of Jonas or McKenzie being able to play the 3rd man up role would be a massive win for us.
I like McKenzie, he has a place on the list, but actually think it's unfair to expect him to take the gun power forwards. He's been supported by Hinkley-ball and pushing extra numbers around the contest meaning less one out contests. Combine that with the skipper making everyone around him better down back in a really effective defensive system I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest McKenzies shortcomings have been plastered over this year.

Aliir is bigger and better. It's an improvement.

This is just an unbelievably sh*t call. Hammer has been huge this season and was a huge factor in the Geelong win. And that deliberate out of bounds was a questionable decision at best.
I love Hammer and he has had a great year but it cannot be ignored that he is part of a senior group of players who have repeatedly let us down in the big moments.

Given the context of the game, it was deliberate and his kick inside 50 after the 50m penalty was just horrific.

Nice. Good stats.
So it sounds more like its his decision making and footskills might be his issue?
