Aliir Aliir could be a very astute pick up to fill in our defensive line for a few years. Statistically he averages more or similar in one percentres, meters gained, rebound 50s and intercept marks as the following key/intercepting defenders over their careers;

Darcy Moore (all above areas)
Harris Andrews (all bar one percenters)
Jacob Weitering (all bar one percenters)
Noah Balta (all bar meters gained)
Nathan Broad (all bar one percenters)
Oscar McDonald (all bar one percenters)
Jodarn Ridley (all bar meters gained)

Not saying he is as good as the above defenders at all, and those players he’s behind in one percenters on average is only about 1 per game, but he is statistically a very good pickup to fill a defensive position if we’re able to make it happen
If he can get back to the form from a few years ago, best 1v1 winning rate of any defender and equal to McGovern for intercept marks would be more than handy.

So we rate next years draft quite high. It also is a year when some good free agents become available so im ok with this.

You have to back the club on this as they have shown they know how to manage the list
Exactly. They have planned years ahead with what they will do...whether they go all in for a draft, or all in for trading or bide their time and accrue picks or money for drafts or players they really want in following years.
Thye have done us well so far. It might be less exciting this year but I am happy to trust Parker, Cripps and Davies.

Every side in the eight have faith in their youth developing, plus they are actively bolstering their lists with trades.

The improvement in our kids will be balanced by the drop off in our aging warriors.

So we will be treading water next year whilst many of those around us leap forward.

The crows having 3 players leaving each 1 is done separately isn't it. A M8 of mine reckons having the other 2 leave helps the crouch compo?
My understanding is the same as yours, each one is done separately with no bearing on the others. You couldn't have a scenario where band 2 and band 3 compensations picks are tallied to get band 1, would be ridiculous.

Lol and what the **** do you want us to do with no trade value?

I don't mind us being quieter on the trade front. However that to me also means we should be more ruthless with older players if we're looking for our younger ones to step up. See if there's anyone who'll take Motlop (we pay part of his salary) and tell Rockliff he's SANFL bound next year and he's free to explore options as well. I don't want more 2015-2019 worst of all worlds of dropping down the ladder AND not playing enough younger players for the next tilt.

Not many gun key forwards around really, unless the definition of gun was used in a very BROAD term.

Well you used it for Hogan. That's about as broad reaching as it gets.

This makes sense. This draft cohort was already weaker than the last couple of years. Due to the affects of Covid it will be a little bit speculative, so it is but the worst draft to be quiet in. We will pick up Jobes and Schofield and lerhqls trade for a player or two, particularly a KPD!
In 2021 I would like to see Port debut the 2019 draftees and continue to develop Drew and Georgiades. Need to balance development with experience, so Port are to challenge for a flag in the next few years with Butters, Rozee, Duursma at the forefront.
Schofield I know. But you have to let us know who Jobes & lerhqls is? ;)

This. We have no early picks. We are using our second rounders to get Jones. The draft doesn't look strong and there is zero form from the vic kids. Bonner is pretty much our only excess player and he isnt worth much in terms of a trade. Giving Crouch 5 years is way too much. If we can get Fantasia, Allir Allir, Jones and draft say a small forward, tall defender and a couple of quick mids for the price of bonner then that seems pretty good. Its a trade period. Not every side can get better. Hopefully clubs force trades of the free agents so there are no winners.

Lol yeah because st kilda need more inside mids give it a spell kane.

Crouch and Hanneberry can have a Hamstring challenge. First to ping buys lunch.
