It's interesting that Connors openly trashed us in 2011-12, I don't remember what he said but it was a fair whack about players not wanting to come here.

I find he is now always looking to move players to Port. I think we must have a good relationship with him and by extension his clients must be happy with us.
2009
"No one wants to play at Port Adelaide," Connors told SEN this morning.

"It's as simple as that. They're a club who, even from Melbourne this year, we were able to see they just weren't a great club.

"They were up, they were down. They seem like they've got a good list. You know, Choco was under the pump all year, they play in front of crowds of 23,000, they've got financial issues.

"They need to build it from the bottom up."

He wasn't wrong at the time

Trade Radio (I think it was Matt Rendell) mentioning that Fantasia will get done for our future 2nd with Essendons future 3rd coming back to us.... I assume there will be more to it though

Yes, I heard that - presumably on top of our pick 29(?)

I would assume so. Without 29, that offer is a massive downgrade on our original offer.

Logically it went like this...

Davies: here have 26
Dodoro: I’d rather Wines or Georgiades or Butters or Rozee
Davies: yeah nice one... by the way, 26 just became 27
Dodoro: we want a first
Davies: we don’t have one. 27 just became 28.
Dodoro: your 2021 First?
Davies: untouchable. By the way, 28 just became 29.
Dodoro: your 2021 Second?
Davies: only if you give us your 2021 Third.

And that’s where we are (assuming Rendell got something correct- I know but there’s a first time for everything).

If there’s truth to it, it would because Essendon need 2021 picks to complete their Caldwell or Dunkley trades. Either to trade or to enable them to trade their 2021 picks (can’t trade both your 2021 1st and 2nd)

port apparently into the 2021 draft so imagine they wouldn’t part with those picks easily.

I’d suggest your close. There’s no way Essendon are taking that deal as it’s stated given how far a fall that is from their future first demands.

If they wanted more than 29 (or whatever it is) that’s a way of doing it .....

My understanding is that the Ryder trade in 2014 in terms of how it was handled by Port impressed PC.

Mind you, what he said way back when was justified. We were an absolute basket case and I would have advised my clients the same thing if I were in his position.

For those of us without Hun access, what is Port's part of the deal?

Essendon accept 29 for Raz and some sort of future pick swap.

Geelong may also want something else from Essendon if it is to send No. 13 and No. 20 to Tullamarine for pick No. 8.

That could see Essendon give the second-round pick (No. 29) it receives from Port Adelaide for Fantasia back to Geelong. The Power have earmarked pick No. 29, but may have to swap future picks to help sweeten the deal for the Bombers.

Carlton also want the deal improved for Saad. It means the Bombers could give the Blues pick No. 48 and No. 67 in exchange pick No. 51.

Sydney’s Aliir Aliir met with Port Adelaide officials in South Australia as he weighs up a long-term offer from the club.
Foxfooty.com.au understands the 26-year-old is seriously considering a three-year deal with triggers for a fourth season.

He flew in and chatted face-to-face with members of the Power’s football department, including head of footy Chris Davies.

In summary we're going for the most average player out of all of the deals, have offered well overs for him but are expected to give even more so the other teams can net the superior players that they're chasing - sounds sooper dooper

If the future pick swap was our 2nd for their 3rd, based on this years premiership placing and 1 more GC priority pick to come and end of Rd 1, that would be swapping our pick 35 for their pick 43 next year. Ford Fairlane
