Matty Armstrong

Surprisingly for many I'm sure, "Joyces" was incredibly well liked down here, had a great repour with the parents of the players and the players respected his coaching.
He's no where near as bad as his rep with us. Was just out of his depth at AFL level.

Reorganising of the VFL felt like the perfect timing for it, especially if the AFL gave 2 shits about either the sentiment in Tasmania at the time or the talent pathway in the state drying up. Honestly almost read their omission as a middle finger, a typically spiteful AFL decision.
Totally.

And realistically that would be the pathway for tassie to get a side. If the built a state team from the VFL comp while pushing for their own side it would happen quicker and be more effective/a better side over time.

At what point (presuming we don't beat West Coast) does pick 1 become mathematically ours.

We are 1 win behind Hawthorn and Collingwood essentially.

So if we are still 6 points behind 17th going into Adelaide in Rnd 23. So end of Rnd 22 (Swans @ Marvel)

If Collingwood and Hawthorn get another win and we don't, end of Rnd 21 (Richmond @ MCG)

Btw, Hawthorn and Collingwood play each other in the lead in, so one of them is a guarantee to pick up that additional win.

Hawks have Freo in Tassie this weekend as probably the other possible win in the lead in:

Collingwoods other winnable game is probably West Coast in Melbourne in their current form:

Let’s just keep it simple and take the best kid in the draft, Horne, if we run last.
Yep.

Much as it would be a lot of fun to **** up the braves and the pies drafting there is a great deal of marketing/PR value in pick #1

Also if we're looking at dealing for lipinsky or anyone else on either list then being campaignerish with early bids won't help us there.

Jazny in your opinion Should the vfl absorb tassie clubs too? I couldn’t see them being less competitive than the nsw/act sides
Hard to see them supporting more than two teams. I can imagine a Launceston-based and Hobart-based team working, since you wouldn't have to bring the whole state together for training etc as you would for a single Tas team. If Tassie had a presence in the VFL they'd still end up running a TSL, only gutted of all the best players.

two divisions in a revamped eastern seaboard football league?

You mean promotion/relegation? Ew, no. Too hard. The AFL reserves teams would have to be exempt from relegation, so the remaining clubs are scrapping for half a dozen spots and yo-yo-ing up and down. Would be terrible.

I’d actually make it possible for the AFL reserves sides to be relegated.it would make them take it seriously

The problem is a lot of them aren't made up of full time players so it just wouldn't work.
A lot of the AFL associated clubs are still governed by the AFL players who gets relegated to the reserves too

Barrack for the draw.

Gee there's some real interesting moves starting to happen after the top 12. If we could leverage next years first into two from 10-20 then at this stage it would guarantee one of Van Rooyen and Williams and might even get you Rachele. That's the draft.
