I’d like us to be competitive & potentially win games, but still finish last so we get the best player in the draft.

North winning 7 games every season means you get to celebrate/enjoy the win 5 more times than you would this season. It also means we finish 10th-14th every year. That means we get draft picks further down the pecking order, which in turn means we have less chance of securing future stars of our team.

None of us can see the future, but it’s just down to odds. Some pain now should get us closer to finals & flags later.

I’ve put up that 6-16th middle of the road sh*t for too long now.
Yeah i get all that that obviously i want Horne as well but what happens next year if there is another Horne out there and the year after keep loosing games to get these players. When do posters want to forget the draft picks and win games and go up the ladder. Look at the Swans this year it can change very quickly and wins can lift the whole club to do who knows what. Just my opinion everyone is allowed one thats what BF is about everyone voicing their opinion.

Free top-5 academy picks certainly help.

Let‘s hope we get off to a 5 zip start next year. This year is gone.

Good post

My feeling is that no games are a W for these teams but if they win all the maybe , ? - we still finish last - but we could beat WC tomorrow and anything could happen.

We probably aren't good enough to get off bottom is my feeling.

We are getting 1 or 2. I know all about Horne but surely we have good options for pick 2 also should we pinch a few.
Callaghan and Sonsie both class mids and both Victorian. Pretty decent options if we do miss Horne

We can only hope i would love that.

Sydney showed no signs last year that was even a possibility.

I don’t like it, but I’m happy to cop this year if it pays off in the long run. I’m not going to sit here from Rd 1 next year hoping for a spoon.

I think Hawthorn overtake us. Plenty of games left in the season +the champs to see who might bolt up into top 3 contention but I'd have Goater as the one I'm most excited about.

Mentioned him a week or two ago as the player in this draft who could most likely overtake Horne for the number one mantle (as unlikely as that is). Since then he's played 2 excellent games against a step up in quality and has risen up draft boards as a result.

Callaghan probably the other one at this stage to keep an eye on along with Gibcus - if we choose to go key defender

I hope nobody does that but lets see some posters opinions if lets say we are in the same position next year. I am sure plenty will be barracking for the spoon again. I will not be one of them.

Wonder if anyone in the top 5-8 picks would take our first and 2nd next year for their first this year.

You try and win every game you can but if you find yourself bottom half way through the year you blood kids.

Yeah any system that delivers two first rounders without trading is ****ed
