Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

Hardwick was in a similar boat coming into the club strength wise. That said, bench press is probably the compound lift with the least crossover to football.
I definitely think it bodes well for his type of player though. You know, power to weight ratio. He doesn't have elite speed so needs to be that toby Greene, Jamie Elliot type of player at the next level, and having legit strength would definitely help.

Gibcus is still young and definitely can still develop into a Full Back.

Cheaper option is to get a midfielder with our first round and get Bazzo with one of our 2nd rounder..
exactly what I of us were thinking, Bazzo with our 2nd, just because he is cheaper version does not mean he cannot become better player or FB for us, time will tell. Same logic with taking Zak instead of Ward, cheaper version of him. I suppose you have to take someone with pick 5 and if the midfield is where it is one and lost, then perhaps there and seems less risky than key position player. That is ofcourse unless we split pick 5 and get a whole bunch of players like Zak, Bazzo and after few years they end up being top 15 players. Always like the idea of getting bang for your buck.

I'm going to figure out my own draft board at some point this week. Did it last year for a Bigfooty phantom draft and it was a lot of fun.

For anybody who cares, we ended up with Tanner Bruhn, Bailey Laurie, Connor Downie, Tom Highmore and Jack Ginnivin.
In hindsight I would have been pretty happy with that haul in real life.

Holy crap, that is some Rolls Royce stuff there from Wilmot. Some super high end ability on display in those highlights, shades of the best AFL mids with some of the spin moves and power in the contest. Ditto for reading what's happening around him. Particularly for such a lightly built guy on the former.

I get excited easily seeing a player who is a smooth mover and a high end kick at this age. Based on these highlights and your opinion, he's an AFL quality player without a shadow of a doubt.
What am I missing? Don't get me wrong looks like a prospect but a lot of double grabbers overhead. None of those kicks were anything particularly special in other words if he missed any of those targets it would have been very disappointing. Nice size and mover no doubt but don't quite understand your arousal level.

Fejo has some very attractive agility

Yep, had some very impressive side steps. Seems to have the tank to play on the ball too. Imagine him and NWM in one team!!!

Been impressed with Ferres too; good overhead, very quick, with endurance. Could be a good Gunston replacement option as a third forward (probably needs to tighten his kicking a little).

He has one unforced double grabber.. where he's not taking contact. One of the double grabbers at :21 is in a pack of 3 KP players. He still marked it. Watch that one again, it's a fair effort. Look at the size of the guy he stands in front of, and marks in front of, in that second highlight at the beginning too.

But his kicking action is ultra smooth and uncomplicated to the point of transcendency. Every part of it is done 'cleanly' at a level above even some guys rated inside the top ten. Plus when he kicks it, the ball moves through the air with purpose and touch. It hits guys between the bottom of their ribcage and their neck. Also watch that kick where he switches -it's effortless for him to make that long delivery.

Aside from this, and that these are only highlights not the full reel... he has two things:

what I'd almost term 'easy' power in a contest which is crazy given his size. A couple of times when he marked against bigger bodies (he's only 180, so they almost all are) he didn't get moved to the point of losing his balance, or lose his 'shape' in the air. Ditto when he crashes his way forward a couple of times, not to mention the super clean hands and balance he uses when he wins the ball.

He is also able to wrong foot players at will, using more than just a sidestep. There are very few players who can kick, move and change direction like Wilmot can Watch him force the play towards the end, using leg speed and evasion when kicking out from full back. The players defending him look bog average. Maybe they are, it's possible I guess. But there's a whole list of guys wrong footed and left grabbing air in his highlights, so I'm thinking it's definitely more his ability.

Also seems to know his limitations, and will give off when he can't get a kick or run like he wants to.

Very rare to get a player who can bash and crash and still look that fluid doing it.

This just keeps getting better and better.

Does he not have pretty good touch and shape on those kicks, or are you just being a dick here?

I'm not exactly Robinson Crusoe in my assessment either, am I? I mean, he's been consensus lauded as a very young top 20 draft pick. His first senior game was seen by some as the best 17 year-old debut for his club ever.

Yet, you're going to bang on about how 'he 'double grabs it'... and 'you don't see it'.

What exactly do you see, along with your 'double grabbers'?

Also explain 'nice size'... how exactly is a 180cm player a 'nice size'?

Adam D'Aloia seems to be a really good player. Apparently he also was named as the best player in the SA U18 Grand Final last week. Not eligible for the draft until next year.
Surely his nickname is "BT's Nightmare"?!
