Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

I definitely differ with a couple of guys on here with how limited he looks. To me I see smooth kicking and moves, clean hands and balance in the contest, with talent to burn.

The one thing that isn't maybe apparent at first glance, is how easy he makes everything he does look. He has time, or he makes it with his feet.

He's not a top ten pick. But there is a lot more there than a Delorian doing 88 imo.
Wilmot will be a very good player imo. Is athletic enough, has wiry strength and great judgement and aggression. One of those contested one on ones was against Campbell chesser who would have a good 6cm on him and a fair bit of size. His upside will be determined by whether he can transition into a mid eventually, but he really is looking more like a nick vlaustin but could end up like the dud grimes brother

Think he's got better skills than Vlaustin, but definitely agree with your post and spirit of it.

That strong, wiry build might really be something once he becomes a man, and gets some adult size. But there are no draft certainties, plenty of players don't make it for a bunch of reasons (and not necessarily talent either).

Rachele was a gun midfielder in 2019. He is more than just a small forward.
I suspect he got shunted more permanently forward partly because he's so damn good at it, and partly to make way for older/bigger boys.

Was named in Twomey's 10 to watch in December last year based on his midfield exploits.
Here is the write-up ...

A prime mover for Vic Country's under-16s side in 2019, Rachele placed himself among the players to watch when he claimed the Kevin Sheehan Medal as the best player in division one at the carnival last year. A powerful midfielder who has an explosive streak to get out of the stoppages and burst away, he got a taste of the NAB League last year with the Bushrangers.

And FWIW, a draft central article described him as 'electric' and "a full athletic package and freaking skills to boot."
So combine results will be interesting (though they often only seem to give the top results, which sucks).

The following AFL article talks about him as a top soccer prospect (evident in the short, fast gait you see in his highlights, which usually translates well at stoppages). Also something about him preferring the team nature of AFL over the individualism of soccer (which can't be a bad thing).

Looks good next to CJ as well, which gets him over the line for me ...

I guess good players can come from any pick, history probably shows more in top 10, however for team success, I wonder whether the slow approach of hanging on to top pick gets you there or whole lot of picks say in 20s, certainly otherwise clubs will be more reluctant to part way with their top pics. However, if strategy is h
Anytime I see someone compare Callaghan to Polec I cringe.
I don't like the look of that, I thought we were in a chance to get Knevitt / Taylor with our 2nd picks, was not even in Top 30 of Cal for so long. If we get Ward with our first, I suppose will not matter as much. Draft power rankings must be different to where they think they will be picked. Noticed Goater along with Ward were standouts, Goater was not even mentioned here.

He will be at the Hawks next year. Mitch has stated that he wants players with impact and we need a small forward desperately.
Doubt it.

Hobbs at 18?
Gibcus at 20?
He's got Leek Alleer being taken before Mac Andrew......and with these weaknesses going into AFL footy.

Weaknesses:
Finds little of the ball in general play
Limited as a rebounder
One-dimensional

Yeah mate, sounds like a top 10 pick to me. 😅
