the players of old really need to get with the fact player movement is different now.
Either that, or **** off and hand the reins over to more relevant commentators.

It's only going to get more fluid over time as well.

I doubt we ever get to the level like the NRL but allowing talks, negotiations and deals with opposition clubs in year needs to happen.

We (the public) are forced to like it (trade period) and grasp at anything that is fed to us. They (the AFL) are so obsessed with being the ones to release a deal (via trade radio) than just have one mouth piece releasing deals once they happen.

The AFL is so far behind player movement, the game of poker isn’t even that anymore, it’s bloody checkers

Yeah I like them a lot.

I disagree with Rendell and Sos about everything, but free agency is definetly something that needs to be looked at it. A player should only be able to nominate the state, or something along those lines. There is no reason that Dawson, who apparently only wants to leave so he can go home, can't also play for Port. It should be up to Sydney to get the best deal for him,

Just like Dangerfield did? Or Cerra? Or Shiel? Or Treloar? Or Prestia? Danger had at least got to free agency but the point being numerous players do this every year, most looking to go back to a Victorian club.

Let’s face it, many players want to go home to earn same or more money and play footy near family and friends. Money will always come into.

Out of contract a player should be able to do what they want.

In contract I might agree with you

Except Adelaide’s contract offer to Dawson is a million bucks more than Port’s.

And may well be double the swans initial offer given talk they extend by a couple of years and upped their rate by $100k. Initial Swans deal sounds about 3 years @$500k , against Adelaide at 5@$650k - a lazy $1.75m more guaranteed!

Hawks the ones that can make it interesting the last few days. Assuming the media arent full of it (big assumption) it sounds like list managers sense blood in the water and are prepared to see if they can get a player on the cheap being perfectly happy if they miss out. Richmond could clean up with Mitchell here

Listening to Brendan Goddard struggle to think and articulate himself on subject after subject on Trade Radio is a very difficult exercise for poor listeners.
He has no idea, I feel sorry for Dal who’s trying to keep it flowing. Cuts to Goddard and he try’s to bumble through it.
It’s painful

If 'Beej' prepared himself as a footballer the way he's prepared each morning as a trade radio broadcaster, he wouldn't have played a game. Unforgivably underinformed, inarticulate and lazy.

Cliff notes?
- Hawkins is the best forward in the game and Cameron is second.

- After a comment about the list age, he made the comment that I rather challenge for a premiership every year than stay at the bottom picking up top picks every year. Then questioned on which clubs, he laughed and said I think we know.

- Basically him being the narcissistic flog that he is.

When asked which players would improve and make them better - Tom DeKonning, then crickets.

No pressure Tom!

I don't have a problem with what he said personally. Cameron being second best forward is a bit of an exaggeration, but he is also talking up his team mates which happens at a bunch of clubs so eh.

And to think this guy is the president of the Players Association

Keeps going missing when it matters too.

Great player but not leader
