I would love to see the North and Hawk financials without the Tassie money.I vote for Norf
Yep - you'd have to think that if Gutwein pulls the pin on Tasmania continuing to finance North and Hawks games then North will definitely be in trouble.I would love to see the North and Hawk financials without the Tassie money.
I don’t think it’s anything to be worried about. Can someone with club contacts tell me that we won’t let this happen in a million years? Need my mind put at ease.
I heard it was the saints last week although not from a fully confirmed source and mainly based on debt reasons. A fair bit of Pressure will be on the AFL to make a call. I expect a fair bit of the report to be made semi public to the various groups shortly. I think Gutwein already has a copy. You would think North would be more likely but they would say the opposite. There has been a lot of talk recently about an AFL team relocating to Tasmania. Anyone heard anything on this? I can’t help but imagine we’ll be under the spotlight but I honestly think that would be just straight up stupid. It would have to be a Victoria team though… and apparently the recommendation has been that the competition shouldn’t add a 19th team.
Personally I think it should be North - but that’s just because I don’t want it to be Saints and they’re an easy target. Would suck for any fan base to have their team relocated to another state. I know it’s happened in the past but just doesn’t seem right!
AFL report to be bullish about Tassie team’s viability
A crucial AFL report on Tasmanian football is expected to be bullish about the state’s ability to support an AFL team in futurewww.google.com.au
Incorrect. It buys them 3 years to put something in place. There are plans staring already by the Tas Govt as to how this will be achieved. North will lose money as will the hawks when Gutwein pulls the pin on them. The AFL wont be prepared to have no games in Tasmania. At the moment at tasmanian AFL games, the bigger clubs are drawing the maximum crowd allowed under the covid rules- if not for that they would have been sold out. The Tasmanians are marching with their feet and dollars. It makes the crowds at GWS and Suns games look pretty shabby. Any AFL team, that relocates will make a lot of money except for the Kangaroos who aren't that popular. It will happen. There is no news here. Carter's report is totally pointless. Recommends that there should be some kind of representation in Tasmania, but doesn't offer a clear way of achieving it. Doesn't even stick to a recommendation. Provides three broad ideas of how it could maybe work. This reeks of the AFL trying to give the image of appeasing the push for a Tasmanian team without actually doing anything. Tasmania doesn't want a joint venture with a Melbourne team. Any whiff of relocation will be met with uproar and strong pushback. The AFL knows this. This buys them some time and allows them to claim that they support Tasmania's football hopes.
Yes, you think they would do that or stay silent and hope it goes away- which it wontIf this gets anymore steam, I would expect our club to get on the front foot and publically state that we'll never be interested in merging, relocating, join venture, or any other bullshit. Before it really takes off, tell them to get stuffed.

What is incorrect? No team is going to relocate. If the AFL couldn't get North to relocate to the Gold Coast when they were in dire shape in 07, there is no chance of any team relocating now. I'm not saying Tasmania will never get a team, but it won't happen yet. I wish it would. I'm a strong believer that Tasmania deserve their own license, but the Carter review is not going to be the cause of it. It's certainly not the preferred recommendation of the review. My criticism is of the report, not Tasmania's push. The report hedges its bets and is noncommittal to any recommendation.Incorrect. It buys them 3 years to put something in place. This is what is incorrect, "There is no news here. Carter's report is totally pointless". , this is huge news. His job was not to say how to do it but to report on what can be done, a business case. Totally disregarding a report like this smacks of "head in the sand" stuff. No-one said it is going to happen this year or next. A time frame for 2025 has been suggested- basically 3 years. What is incorrect? No team is going to relocate. I do would never watch another game of AFL in my life if Stkilda relocate. Footy would be dead to methis club is part of my life, part of who i am. i truely do think i bleed RWB. i been to hell with this club, and this club has been there for me when i went through hell myself.
If we do get relocated, i’d honestly not know how to react. i won’t be able to handle it one bit.
If and it is a big if the saints did relocate, we would be set both an and off the football field. We go up the ladder that quick you would not know which way to look. There would be money rolling in the aisles.this club is part of my life, part of who i am. i truely do think i bleed RWB. i been to hell with this club, and this club has been there for me when i went through hell myself.

That would be right. Covid will impact whatever happens anyway to a degree. It will be interesting to hear what the AFL ceo says. I read somewhere that at least 75% of the clubs have to sign off on any move ,if and when it occursyes but where we are right now. we are at our home, where our history belongs. it’s not like moving to Seaford, we getting moved across to a different state. Our fan base won’t be able to attend games such as “home games”.
what this club stands for >>> money.
