Also some GWS bloke intruded on a conversation with a mate about academies, and said that it was a rort that Sydney ended up with Logan and Braeden by matching picks. I'm like, uhh hello you did the same thing with Tom Green via GWS academy.. People are legit so stupid, and just read headlines without actually knowing anything. Bunch of sheep sigh lol

We were founded in Victoria and have over 12,000 Victorian members
That's why I support the Swans & hate every other arseh*le Victorian team (including Fitzroy) that sent us packing so I couldn't see my team live regularly any kore as a kid, thus commencing the inequality of the comp against us.
1986 & 1987 we get the double chance but have to play in Melbourne on a lower ranked team's home ground.
All of those 12,000 Vic members would feel the same.

Special mention to Simon Lethlean & his Saints. He was one cocky prick when he got Hanners from us. They also targeted & got Zac Jones.
Thus far Hanners has played 13 games in two seasons for the Saints for 6 wins. He has just turned 30 & if he was struggling playing for us, 3 years later he won't be much better.

Tough call made by the Swans & pats on the back for Lethlean & Saints at the time but we have been vindicated with that decision.
Zac Jones was one that also was beginning to have soft tissue injuries due to the dynamic way he played. Zac still has some good years ahead of him but again we made the brave call to either lose him or lose one of our junior stars.

Well done Swans.
Suffer in ya jocks Saints!

Spot on. I’d go as far as saying most of our trades/losses have been vindicated.

Letting go of someone the caliber of Hanners was huge but we got the best of him and the Saints got a shell of an AA player. I like Hannebery and wish he was a one club player but if we kept him who knows who else we lose.

Even Tom Mitchell. Yes he won a Brownlow but he’s one dimensional and he’s great if you’re looking to top up but he’s not as dynamic as any of our current young mids. That doesn’t mean we’d be worse off with him, but we’re fine without him and his inflated price tag.

I won’t lose sleep over Jones, AA, Murray or Newman.

All in all we came out the other end looking like a calculated team that knew what pieces it needed for the future.

No mention of membrey

Membrey will be a club great at the Saints by the time his career is over no doubt.

His best asset is his work rate IMO, in that he works so hard up the ground & then next minute he is taking a mark up forward shooting for goal. He has most likely benefited from playing alongside Riedwoldt & watching his work rate from up close. I'm not sure how he played against the Bombers the other night as I didn't watch the game but I'm sure he would have been one of their best. I have no doubt he also learned plenty while at the Swans.

"You can't have them all" Punts. That's what Mike Thatfatprick told us. :)

Exactly right. Why fret over every single player we’ve ever lost? Most of them were surplus and our forward line is the most potent in the league. We have no need for any of our discarded players and we’ll power on without them.

Let’s celebrate the players who wear red and white today.

I should also add that with Heeney superseeded Membrey.
Similar types IMO.

We have a also made some terrible list decisions the last 6 or so years also

You and I never agree much in this area... and you probably know more about this than I do..

However, that said, I'm thinking we dodged a bullet with Titch in the long run. It was four years ago, and he would have helped enormously during those last four years, but, and it's a big but... he is not suited to our current game at all. Brilliant player in his own right, but I think the rule changes mean the new game style will not be played to his strengths...

I rate the bloke always have amd does things in big games like the 16gf

Post something positive about the Swans drafting and recruitment and sure as sh*t Punts will have notifications on so he can tell you how many mistakes we’ve made.

Seems like a joyful soul.

Really??? I generally like your posts, but don't post this type of sh!t about other Swans posters... you're in effect inviting others to belittle someone. It's in really poor taste

Sorry if it offends you but it’s unfortunately pretty common. I’m not posting to please anyone.

Neither is he... that's the point. Why would you make a personal comment about someone you don't even know...

Everyone knows I'm permanently positive about the Swans, (probably drive a fair few posters up the wall with my emoticons and elipses) and that negativity drives me nuts, but not so long ago this place deteriorated into the positives and negatives, with people routinely playing the man and not the poster, talking about bleeding hearts etc.

Please, let's not go there again...

Fair enough. Moving on.

I think we can all agree that our drafting and trading strategies have improved markedly in recent times. The last 2-3 post seasons in particular. Our focus is now heavily on skills but without neglecting the grit that Sydney players are known for.
