Big candidates for a premiership hangover next year.
Not many, if any, teams break a flag drought and back it up the next year.
Swans the only team to come close in the last 20 years.
You're not special. On my 4th rewatch now. Cracking game and the right result. I HATE the Bulldogs!!
We broke a long and arduous five year drought in 2013 and backed it up twice.Big candidates for a premiership hangover next year.
Not many, if any, teams break a flag drought and back it up the next year.
Swans the only team to come close in the last 20 years.
Reeves is the secret shhhIf Dees are fit come finals next year they could easily win again. They should make finals again even with a slow start / hangover. A lot of their core is young and lower chance to be injured. It also wasn’t a ‘fluke’ flag - they were best team all year.
Their defensive structures may be unpicked but how do you plan to stop bursts of such centre square dominance? In same ways teams never really found a way to stop dusty, the Gawn, Jackson, petracca, Oliver combo isn’t easy to stop.
Could also go the other way.Richmond?
Lost a prelim then won the next two.
Melbourne will be scary next season. List demographic is in an enviable position. They just need to stay injury free. Their reserves are also the dominant VFL side so the depth is there.
Could also go the other way.
Young players, lots of money, bigger egos
I was thinking more off-field.Are you guessing though on the ego front?
Oliver and Petracca have notoriously seemed Melbourne's biggest egomaniacs.
Trac hid his Norm Smith because he wanted to share the win with his team mates without a focus being on his individual award.
Oliver's number 1 goal this season was to be more selfless. He won the clubs 'most selfless' in-house award apparently which was the first time somebody won who wasn't a defender.
I think they'll be fine.
Geelong 2008?Big candidates for a premiership hangover next year.
